Everyone is connected to a technology in some way, whether it is a cell phone, computer or television. We are all now dependent on these technologies. We have accepted the new changes of technologies and have allowed them to shape our society in a negative way.

Social Isolation is complete lack or near complete lack of social interactions with others. Related to technology, this means choosing to focus on technology rather than have social conversations with others. Technology replaces the want for social interaction.

Social Neurosis is “a functional disorder in which feelings of anxiety, obsessional thoughts, compulsive acts, and physical complaints without objective evidence of disease, in various degrees and patterns, dominate the personality”. (Dictionary.com. 2013).

As a society, we can push for more social interactions, such as group work in schools, avoid self-serve options, etc. If we come together as a whole, and tackle our new generation we can make a change for the better. We must push the realization onto others, and spend more time enjoying our planet for what it is.

We have accepted technology as a routine in our lives, therefore we are the ones to change the current and future generations. It is important to take social isolation seriously and realize this is a problem that may occur in all of our lives.
