THINK IT UP
Student-powered
Teacher-led
Crowdfunded
What a powerful op-
portunity for our stu-
dents. If you have a
group of students who
have that leadership
spark, consider this
great resource.
ZOOMBINIS
The best logic game ever!
In my 20 years of teach-
ing, this is my number
one recommendation
and it’s finally available
on the IPAD and Google Play Store. Great for
all ages although it will
require conversation
with the little ones be-
fore they are proficient on their own. It’s simply
brilliant. There are
twelve different challeng-
es and four levels to
each challenge. Each
Zoombini has different characteristics and
you’ll have to figure out
which of those deter-
mine the solution to the
particular challenge. Each time you play, the
answers will change.
You’ll be amazed at what
you learn together.

ElearningLaura Post from 2009 – Nine Great Rea-
sons Why Teachers Should Use Twitter
Honestly, I never saw a personal value for Twitter and most certainly didn’t want something else to do on the com-
puter after work. But every conference I have been to in the last few years has highlighted the value of Twitter for
educators so I began my lobby for access for PPSB teachers. Now that the access block has been lifted, I’m diving
into the Twitter pool. It’s a small chore but a fascinating one. I’m expanding my own Personal Learning Network
and “retweeting” interesting items that come my way. Remembering to look at Twitter is the hardest part. I vow
only to post educationally relevant tweets and no one will know which side I butter my bread on ala Dr. Seuss But-ter Battle Book or how many cups of coffee I’ve had. Some things just don’t need to be Tweeted. Join me if you

So many apps, so little time. If you haven’t seen Google Expeditions, check it out. They are giving me 5 cardboard viewers. We can collaborate and find an expedition that links to your curriculum to create another WOW moment for your students. At the Google Road Show I attended—I asked the teacher using Google Classroom to describe her day.
Students check in and have a do now. Then they get out their chrome books and watch the lesson presentation she created using Screencastify and Educanon (which lets her embed questions at specific points in the video and she can see the real time student responses to the questions on her log in screen). The big difference is all the classes get the same fantastic version of her presentation. She uses this information from Educanon to create small groups. Students work on their own on their Chrome books while she works with small groups. She alternates between classroom and google sites for giving information to her students. She uses Google Forms with Floobaru and Formative to create as-sessments. She uses ExitTicket software to assess her students at the end of the day. Collaboratively, she works with
her team of 5th grade teachers across their schools to share videos. Some teachers use her presentation but put their own voice over the images, others use everything she created and take on one new tech challenge at a time until they are comfortable. What do you think? How can we help you with your GAFE integration?
