Summary: In this Article, the author talks about the important
role that immersive VR (Virtual Reality) will play in the future of education. Any threedimensional environment can be simulated in VR. Some Examples include: buildings, landscapes, underwater shipwrecks, spacecrafts, archaeological excavation sites, human anatomy, sculptures, crime scene reconstructions, solar systems, and so on. The author explains that any teaching or training experience in an actual environment that is too dangerous, difficult, inconvenient, expensive, or impossible is a prime candidate for virtual reality scenarios.

Advantages of using VR in Classrooms: Customizes the learning process to fit the individual learner's needs. Ability to utilize more of the senses, allowing for more experiential
learning. Provides students the opportunity to become curious about their
learning, and result in more individual ownership of the learning experience.
Current Progress and Expectancies: Immersive virtual reality is still in the beginning stages of its
development. Expecting many more growths and development over the next decade
and more promotions for VR and conducting various training settings. The role of teachers could change drastically in a fully immersive,
totally virtual environment. While some predict such massive changes in our future, it is more likely that immersive VR technology will be implemented as a complementary strategy to other teaching/learning methods.
PERsONAL REFLECTION
I think that VR could be very useful in Education in the future. I bet that there will be a lot of schools that won’t be able to partake in it at first because of cost restrictions but if a school has enough funding to buy it, I think it would definitely be worth it. With VR the student’s are able to go into a different world and visit times/places that they couldn’t, for whatever reason, and feel as if they are right there with whatever topic they are currently learning. I believe that this would get student’s more involved and excited about their school work. I think it is amazing that technology has come this far and can’t wait to see if VR really will end up in the school system.
TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION: TECHED 2004 CONFERENCE
Summary:TechEd has obviously been going
on since 2004 and it is a Conference that’s held yearly at the Ontario California Convention Center to help various teachers learn the new technology that is currently being used in the schools. In the 2004 Conference they held seminars for teachers to learn how to use: network security; technology integration; digital games in education; handheld devices in education; Power Point; and emerging wireless technologies.
TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION: TECHED 2004 CONFERENCE The program is basically ran through donations
that various people make, which can be anywhere from different software programs, teaching the teachers how to use the programs, or just simply money.
They also offer Teachers from all over to give speeches if they want to about what they’ve learned is useful or their experience with certain software.
PERsONAL REFLECTION
I understand that this article was a little outdated, being as how the conference was held in 2004. However, I mainly picked it because I like the idea of holding seminars once a year to keep teachers up to date on the current technology. I think a lot of the teachers view new technology as being difficult to understand and master but with this seminar they are able to master it with other teachers and thereby making the entire year easier, for both the teacher and students, and less stressful on the teachers.
TEACHING WITH TECHNOLOGY: VALUE-ADDED INNOVATION OR NECEssITY? Summary: This article was about a study that Central
Queensland University (CQU) conducted in which they reviewed three different approaches to online delivery and assessment currently being used in the Faculty of Business and Law, CQU, to analyze the rates of takeup and involvement, and students' reactions to the use of nontraditional forms of delivery and assessment.

Results: For students a combination of Webenhanced
delivery and faceto face teaching has proved successful (Willett, 2002) and has been found to increase the levels of satisfaction of students (if not their overall performance) compared to more traditional offerings (Buckley, 2003).
A software program called, Microsoft Producer, gives the option of a voiceover to accompany each individual PowerPoint slide. Students viewed this helpful because they could listen to the whole lecture, and then go back to individual slides, or repeat sides as many times as needed for clarification.
PERsONAL REFLECTION
I agree with the results of this study, Technology can be very useful and effective for students. However, it is important to remember not to only rely on technology as the basis of your teaching because, like with anything, technology is not something that you can always rely on. Also, some students learn better with the traditional way of teaching. I think that teachers should rather rely on the traditional way of thinking and use technology to further show or reiterate their studies.
CONCLUsION
Throughout the semester we have been looking at how technology can be helpful to the education field, so for this assignment I decided to just further explore this. I believe that technology is very beneficial to the educational field and it continues to surprise me with how much it is growing and changing everyday. I think that if teachers are able to stay uptodate with the ever changing technologies, they will be able to benefit the kids in providing different ways to understand something.
