The story behind the modular raw material concept
The existing configuration „raw material supplier – coatings formulator“ faces a situation
where balancing of technical performance, innovation of products and economic efficiency
turns out to be increasingly difficult.
Current coating formulations are containing numerous different raw materials that exhibit a
multitude of chemical as well as physical interactions.
Synergistic as well as antagonistic interactions affect manufacture, application as well as the
final performance of the corresponding coating.
Only a detailed knowledge of the chemical design of raw materials allows for precise control
of physical as well as chemical interactions. As a matter of fact, this opens the door for sub-
stantial performance increase of formulations and coatings.
A combined expertise of the members of our raw material network enables the development
of modular, semi finished goods with harmonized chemical design delivering outstanding per-
formances.
Therefore a joined development between coatings formulators and our modular raw material
network not only leads to more efficient and shortened development cycles but opens up the
opportunity to excellent performing coatings with consistent outstanding quality.
All "easy to process" modular recipes are aligned to an optimum interaction of different
chemistries in order to receive the best performance possible. The perfect match of all raw
material modules allows an extremely simple and quick manufacturing practice.
The use of modular raw materials not only leads to a reduction in production costs and stock-
keeping of singular raw materials but also helps to reduce waste and dust generation in pro-
duction and improves working conditions in production without extra investments in safety
equipment.
In this context the modular raw material network
has jointly developed a couple of high performance modular recipes for various ap-
plications.
Perfectly matched raw materials
New level of product performance
Outstanding batch to batch consistency
Quick & simple manufacturing
Better working environment
