Horizons is a program designed for ambitious students who want to launch successful careers in the world of technology. Our courses are built for the next generation of engineers, designers, product managers, marketers, and entrepreneurs - the future leaders in technology.

We live in an era in which tech and software continue to eat the world. Learning to code has been and will continue to be one of the most valuable skills of the 21st century. From the largest financial institutions to remote villages in Africa, even the most arcane parts of society are being disrupted by technology. Learning to code gives you the strikingly unique ability to innovate in ways that were previously impossible. Ultimately, our goal at Horizons is to provide our students with skills, perspective, and a network to leverage software for world-changing impact.

Our flagship college program was designed for the brightest and most ambitious university students from around the world. Now our programs are open to high-potential high school students as well. Past Horizonites have hailed from schools like Harvard, Princeton, Penn/Wharton, Columbia, Northwestern, Brown, Michigan, NYU, Babson and more. Our students have gone on to land competitive job opportunities, launch their own companies, and more.

Our expansion into the world of high school reflects our goal of continuing to find, mentor and build tomorrow’s leaders in technology. The Horizons experience will be a transformative one. Students will leave with newfound programming skills, stronger college applications, a modern perspective, and ultimately a more successful career.

The Horizons Mission

We expose high-potential high school students to industry-focused software skills and current leaders in technology. The skills and perspective from Horizons provides high school students with tangible benefits during the college application process

We build T-shaped students Gone are the days of well-rounded applications. Colleges now look for students that are not only well-rounded, but also have uniquely demonstrated strengths or passions. We seek to provide students with deep, technical experiences and industry perspective that gives them maturity well beyond their years. Horizonites learn the fundamentals of software engineering, build a series of real-world projects, and meet successful technologists. They learn about new industries, different career paths in technology, and the tenets of entrepreneurship.

High schoolers work alongside the brightest and best university studentsOur flagship college program was designed for the brightest and most ambitious university students from around the world. Past Horizonites have hailed from schools like Harvard, Princeton, Penn/Wharton, Columbia, Northwestern, Brown, Michigan, NYU, Babson and more. As a student in our high school program, you will be going through the same program and curriculum as your college counterparts and attend joint speaker series and networking events. By interacting with college Horizonites, you’ll gain meaningful insights about the different universities and make new friends - all this without a single campus visit!

Students will build a comprehensive technical portfolioBuild a technical portfolio of projects and a new set of perspectives to stand out in your college applications. Show admissions officers that you’re passionate, capable and years ahead in your thinking. You'll be able to talk about real experiences building real products - clones of Facebook, Yelp, Amazon, and more. You’ll get to leverage the things you learned from hearing world-class entrepreneurs and investors speak in class. You’ll get to show that you spent more than 600 hours of coding in a single summer. The possibilities are endless.

Learn to codeLearn how to build website, mobile and desktop applications in an intensive full-stack curriculum. Our curriculum has been built by engineers at leading technology companies.

Build your own startup ideaPut your skills to the test and work on real-world projects in highly collaborative team-based environments.

Learn from world class speakersWe broaden students’ perspective and knowledge by bringing in successful entrepreneurs, engineers, and investors. Students will learn about new industries, building companies and various career paths.

Access the Horizons Mentor NetworkOur mentor network consists of people from the top tech firms from around the world. The network is designed to help Horizonites successfully navigate the world of tech. Horizons students and graduates have exclusive access to our mentors.

The Horizons program broadens students’ perspectives and knowledge by bringing in successful entrepreneurs, engineers, operators and investors as part of our tech speaker series. Past Horizonites have come from a variety of backgrounds. We’ve welcomed Math Olympiad Winners, Computing Olympiad Winners, renowned college entrepreneurs, students with perfect SAT/ACT scores, talented designers, photographers, and more as part of our previous batch. Students have come from some of the best schools from around the country.


Course Logistics

Course DatesStart: June 12, 2017End: July 28, 2017

TuitionTuition for the course is $9,000, payable in 1 or 3 installments.

HousingHorizons does provide housing at an additional cost. We have housing partners San Francisco through whom we provide student housing at a discounted rate. Housing will be within a 20 minute walk of the classroom location. Horizons housing will cost between $900 - $1450 per month depending on the accommodations you are interested in. If you have your own housing in San Francisco, you do not have to opt for Horizons housing.

More details about housing:● You will be living in a co-living space in San Francisco. Co-living communities are dorms that

are not tied to a university. Interns and recent graduates who just moved to the city will make up the majority of residents you meet.

● You will share a room with another Horizons student of the same gender and your floor will be primarily composed of Horizons students.

● Showers, kitchens and common areas are shared among residents.● Pots, utensils and a communal fridge will all be available! There will be multiple ovens and

stoves for cooking. ● Laundry is also on premise, but not in unit. You will need quarters for laundry. ● Pillows, sheets, and other bedding is provided.● Each room will have a closet and drawers for storage.

If you would like your own room, please let us know - single rooms are provided based on availability.

LocationOur class will be located in the SOMA area of San Francisco. This is where many of SF’s hottest startups are headquartered, including Uber, Twitter, Yelp and many more. Class will be conducted at 329 12th St. We are sharing a building with Cafe X, a robotics company!
