This award is intended to motivate them to seek further employment in their respective scientifi c fi elds.

The submissions are judged by an appointed jury appropriate to the topical focus. In total, the following will be awarded:

› up to two master’s or bachelor’s dissertations with prize moneyin the amount of €1.000,00 each, and

› up to two doctoral theses with prize money in the amount of € 2.000,00 each

The prizes will be presented at the NÖ Wissenschaftsgala (Lower Austrian Science Gala) in autumn of 2017.

Definition

The “Wissen schaf[f]t Zukunft Preis”, awarded by the NÖ Forschungs- und Bildungsges.m.b.H. (NFB, Lower Austrian Research and Education Association), celebrates high-quality scientifi c achievements by young people starting a career in science. This award is intended to motivate them to seek further employment in their respective scientifi c fi elds.

The submissions are judged by an appointed jury appropriate to the topical focus. In total, the following will be awarded:

› up to two master’s or bachelor’s dissertations with prize moneyin the amount of €1.000,00 each, and

› up to two doctoral theses with prize money in the amount of € 2.000,00 each

The prizes will be presented at the NÖ Wissenschaftsgala (Lower Austrian Science Gala) in autumn of 2017.

Between 21st April and 28th May 2017

Requirements

›Age of applicants: »For master’s/bachelor’s work, born in or after 1989 »For doctoral theses, born in or after 1982

›The work was graded in 2014 at the earliest.

›The fi nal project must have been graded “good” or “very good”.The corresponding study, whether a FH programme orstandard university degree course from an Austrian orEuropean institute, should also have been successfully completed.

›The fi nal paper was written in German or English.

›The submitted project has a plausible connection to Lower Austria and contributes to gaining a better understanding of Lower Austria.

›The submitted project has a plausible connection to the theme for 2017.

Since 2016, the “Wissen schaf[f]t Zukunft Preis”, awarded by the NÖ Forschungs- und Bildungsges. m.b.H (NFB, Lower Austrian Research and Education Associ-ation) has dealt with focuses and subject areas specifi ed by the State of Lower Austria’s FTI Programme. In 2017, fi nal course projects from the following areas will be considered for the “Wissen schaf[f]t Zukunft Preis”:

Technology - Productivity - Prosperity

Medical technology and biomedical technologies

Renewable resources and bioenergy

Sustainable farming and product

optimisation

Materials and surfaces

Manufacturing and automation engineering

›Degree certifi cate (master dissertation) or examiners’ reports (doctoral thesis)

›Confi rmation of successful programme completion for submittedfi nal projects (graded no earlier than 2014)

The applicants need to be creators of the submitted work and thus authors as per Article 10 Paragraph 1 of the Copyright Act, BGBL Nr. 111/1936, current version.Upon submission, the entrant gives their consent to the NFB and the State of Lower Austria in the case of winning the award to freely use the work in relation to the awards ceremony and to present it at any other events or in any forms of communication. In the case of publishing winning work, there are no entitlements to any sales proceeds.
