PSUs are looking at investing in technology products & solutions to help address the challenges they faced in early years of transition towards establishing a more transparent and accountable organization, reduce the cost of production and enhance productivity and customer reach. A recent study highlighted that the investment in technology is the key trend which is shaping up the growth of PSUs in India, now & in the near future. The Indian PSUs are expected to witness a turnover of more than USD 1 Trillion in the next 5 years and a large part of the growth will be attributed to investments in IT solutions including Cloud, big data, mobility, EWA/CRM, Business Intelligence, etc.

IT spends in PSU accounts for about 2% of total PSU revenues (upwards of USD 383 billion) - higher than most other verticals. According to a recent report finding, energy and BFSI are the major PSU verticals for IT investments, followed by manufacturing, etc. IT is being viewed as a major cost reduction enabler in many PSUs by automation of processes and integrated IT set ups.
