Representing Norwich City, the two teams played fixtures against representative clubs from across the country at Hackney Marshes in East London. Norwich City’s squads were made up of youngsters from Great Yarmouth and Gorleston, selected from attendees of the weekly Kicks sessions that take place at Lynn Grove High and Ormiston Venture Academy. The two City teams failed to get past the tough groups they were drawn in, but both got to enjoy victories, with the boys picking up wins against West Brom and Southend United and the girls defeating Cardiff City. Millwall were victorious in the girls’ category, whilst West Ham United – whom Norwich City had beaten earlier in the year at Carrow Road – were the eventual winners in the under-16 boys tournament. Aside from the football, the players got the opportunity to meet former England Under-21 and Bolton Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba as well as take part in workshops on drug awareness and sexual health. Jack Garrod, our social engagement officer, accompanied the squads to London: “All players represented the Kicks project, CSF and Norwich City perfectly. Though we were unlucky to go out in the group stages, everyone had a fantastic day.” Each of the six hundred participants received a goody bag with a new England Nike home shirt and football. Aimed at increasing sports participation in deprived areas, the Premier League funded Kicks programme has already seen more than 100,000 young people get involved since it was first piloted in 2006. The school, which has charity status in the UK, is completely funded on donations. From a single room school for 15 children, the school now accommodates over 240 students across nine classrooms in an area where education funding is scarce. The new kit will be used for PE lessons and has already proved to be very popular with students – not least because it matches Zambian national team colours! Kit donation puts a smile on students’ faces

csf recently donated some kit to the tongabezi trust school in Zambia.

The school, which has charity status in the UK, is completely funded on donations. From a

single room school for 15 children, the school now accommodates over 240 students across nine classrooms in an area where education funding is scarce.

The new kit will be used for PE lessons and has already proved to be very popular with students – not least because it matches Zambian national team colours!
