For my final project, I photographed Marissa Hayes helping out elementary and middle school kids at their basketball clinic. The person who organized this clinic asked Marissa and some of her friends to help and coach the kids so they can get better and show them how to do things. Marissa loves to play basketball, she is on the girls varsity basketball team for our school and plays AAU basketball year out. Marissa was a good person to take pictures for this project because she is doing something good in the

community by helping kids improve and having fun at the same time.

INTRODUCTION

STRETCHING

Before Marissa starts to play

basketball, she needs to stretch

out to make sure she doesn’t get

hurt. Basketball players really

need to stretch before they start

playing because they have to run

around the court and don’t want

to pull any muscles.

EQUIPMENT

After stretching, Marissa and her

friend, Emma, go and get all the

equipment they need and have to

make sure they are ready to be

used. Marissa and Emma are

pumping up the basketball so they

can use it to warm up.

WARMING UP

When all the basketballs are ready,

Marissa starts to warm up. In this

picture, Marissa is dribbling the ball

around the court as she gets ready to

play.

TAKING SHOTS

To get even more ready, Marissa

starts to take some shots. She tries

many different shots around the

court before she is ready to help

the kids.

PASSING

Marissa and her friend, Kerri,

start passing the ball to each

other as the kids are arriving

and getting warmed up.

GUARDING

Marissa and Emma have

now started to play one

on one to show some of

the girls watching how

to guard someone. In

these pictures, Emma is

trying stop Marissa

from getting to the

hoop.

GUARDING #2

Now they switched

it up, Marissa is

guarding Emma

now and is not

letting her get to

the hoop. They are

showing the girls

how to guard.

FREE THROWS

Marissa in this picture is

standing with her friends as

they wait for some of the

girls to talk to their coach

and get ready to shot free

throws.

REBOUND

In this picture, Marissa is

looking up at the

basketball that one of the

kids threw and is getting

ready to rebound it.

HELPING OUT

In this picture, Marissa is talking

to an elementary student. She is

helping her out by telling her

plays and moves she can use

when the kids start playing a

game.
