2. 2 3. Tekla Global BIM Awards Overview The Tekla Global BIM Awards competition was arranged for the first time in 2009. Entries to the competition were the winners of regional Tekla model competitions held by Tekla area offices and resellers during the year. 3 The competition, presented on the Tekla Website, is divided into three categories: BIM projects, Steel projects, and Concrete and other projects. The winners of the Global BIM Awards are decided by a jury consisting of leading BIM experts inside and outside Tekla. In addition, there is a public vote over the Internet. 4. Derby Business Park 9 For me, BIM is about collaboration. This is why Derby Business Park was my favorite project this year. Kim Inhan, Professor at Kyung-Hee University, South Korea Watch the video of the Project 10. 10 Park & Ride De Uithof, The Netherlands 11. Park & Ride De Uithof Modeled by: Hurks Delphi Engineering Location: Utrecht, The Netherlands Category: Concrete and Others 11 Facts: Total area of 50,000 square meters A precast concrete climbing wall will be planned and used by the nearby sports center Scheduled for completion in 2013 12. Park & Ride De Uithof 12 At Park & Ride De Uithof, BIM was used troughout different processes. It clearly solved a lot problems and made things right before they were built. -Chris Sleight, Editor of International Construction magazine Watch the video of the Project 13. The Emirates Air Line London Cable Car, UK 13 14. The Emirates Air Line London Cable Car, UK 14 Modeled by: Watson Steel Structures Ltd. Two stations, a gondola store and three towers (two 80 meters and one 62 meters tall) In operation since June 2012 15. The Emirates Air Line London Cable Car, UK 15 I think the entire jury was quite excited about the Emirates Air Line London Cable Car. The makers had to have very good knowledge of how to combine modeling and positioning technologies. -Risto Rty, Deputy CEO and Executive Vice President at Tekla Watch the video of the Project 16. Icebergs- Louis Vuitton Foundation, France 16 17. Icebergs- Louis Vuitton Foundation, France 17 Modeled by: Pouma/ lemants Location: Paris, France Category: Concrete and other Facts: The faade is covered with 16,000 ceramic (Ductal) tiles supported by over 2,000 aluminum wall panels Every element has unique geometry in order to follow the smooth lines and various facets of the faade Scheduled for completion in 2013 18. Icebergs- Louis Vuitton Foundation, France 18 Icebergs has 16,00 tiles, all with a different geometry. For projects like this, BIM clearly is a very big tool. -Chris Sleight, Editor of International Construction magazine 19. The Capital Market Authority Office Tower, Saudi Arabia 19 20. The Capital Market Authority Office Tower, Saudi Arabia 20 Modeled by: Eversendai Corporation Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabi Category: Steel Facts: 358 Meters, four meters higher than the Empire State Building Three basements, 75 floors and roof features, and a three- story podium structure with a total area of about 183,950 square meters (1,980,00) Scheduled for completion in 2013 21. The Capital Market Authority Office Tower, Saudi Arabia 21 It is a fine design. Why? Because of the overall diagrid structure which transfers the load to ground trough diagrid columns and an inverted truss. From the erection point of view, it is very complicated and prestigious to achieve. -Internet voter Watch the video of the Project 22. 22 Leeds Arena, UK 23.
