W ith this adquisition, TEKNIA Group incorporates Aluminum Injection with machining Technology. Three

new plants are incorporated in Ampuero (Cantabria), Tepeji del Rio (Mexico) and Oradea (Romania). Bravo Enterprises provides new aluminium injection technology with machining and complements the plastic injection, stamp-ing, tube forming and machining offer. As part of its expansion strategy, Teknia has successfully closed the acquisition of 100% of the company Mecanizados Norte Bravo (Bravo Enterprises, in which Corpfin Capital and Familias Bravo and Arrizabalaga have a stake), located in Spain, as well as its subsidiaries in Mexico and Romania. This operation is the largest incorporation in the group’s turnover volume in its 26 years

history, and is a further step in the fulfilment of the company’s strategic plan, which foresees a turnover of 700 M€ in 2021. This acquisition for TEKNIA Group involves, in addition to the new locations in which it already operates, the incorporation of customers and strategic products with new technology. Bravo Enterprises is a technological company specialized in the casting and machining of non-ferrous metal parts (mainly aluminium) for the automotive sector and founded in 1980. It develops its activity with three plants, Ampuero (Cantabria) operating in the EU and NAFTA, Tepeji del Rio (Mexico) for the NAFTA market and Oradea (Romania) for Europe. Its strategic products include steering systems, starters and alternators, pumps, electronic components and gearboxes.

Teknia São Paulo 1 has booked the first VW project of its history. The project involves three high

volume engine tubes, two in aluminum and one in carbon steel, to be assembled in the new 1.4TSI and 1.6MPI engine line. This booking, for sure the first of many others, means a remarkable milestone in the retargeting strategy started two years ago, to move the product portfolio to higher volumes and car OEMs.At the same time, this booking allows us to grow in the aluminum business, preparing us for the new market trends and opportunities. Finally, this success is the result of a determined effort of the TSP1 team to overcome a wide range of very demanding customer audits, in quality, production, financials, and engineering. Congratulations to everybody involved, and lets go for the next OEM.

The electric motor is responsible for transforming electrical energy into mechanical: the magnetic fields do the

work generating the turning forces that drive the vehicle. On the left, the electric motor of a Renault Zoe, divided in 4 subcomponents:

· The power electronics controller: A system composed of several electrical and electronic subsystems, able to manage the current flows between the batteries and the engine in both directions. The engine is capable of reversing its work, generating electrical power when the car drives it during braking or retention.

· Stator and rotor: In the stationary part or stator, the variable magnetic fields are induced to give the rotating impulse to the

rotor, the only moving part of the motor, on which the motive power is created and it is responsible for transmitting it to the outside of the motor.

· The reducer: Equivalent to a fixed sin-gle-speed gearbox: consists of a gearbox that reduces the speed of rotation of the electric motor, and divides the force between its output shafts: the two bearings that transmit the turning force directly to the wheels. It can also be attached directly to a wheel, as is usually done on the rear wheels of vehicles with all-wheel drive.

The 5 most commonly used electric motors to deliver power to an electric vehicle are: the DC (Direct Current) motor, the permanent magnet synchronous motor, the induction or asynchronous motor, the axial flow motor and the variable reluctance motor.

After 2 years of close collaboration TBA has finally been nominated to supply more than 16M Aluminium SC pistons to

Continental’s HBS Division over the next 4 years.SOP for the first wave (VW) is planned for September 2018 and the remain (several OEMs) will ramp up as from January 2019.All 13 references were validated successfully with Continental plants over the last six months. This booking has positioned Continental along-side Robert Bosch in terms of customer share, a very important objective set back in 2012 when turnover with Continental was residual. This milestone booking has also enabled TBA to invest in a new, state of the art grinding line as well as new CNC machinery. This success is owed to the hard work put in by every single department at Teknia Barcelona.

TBA ENTERS MANDO SUPPLIERS PANNELLast June 6th and 7th, we had the visit of MANDO with the objective of analyzing the potential of TBA for the manufacture of Pistons in Europe. Mando is a Korean compa-ny, whose main customers are Kia, Hyundai

and SsangYong. They have recently been implemented in Poland and have a first project for brake pumps for BMW, which they want to supply with European components and standards.During the two days of the visit, an audit was carried out to evaluate the potential supplier, obtaining a score of 90.5 PASS, which allows us to access the Supplier Panel for the reception of RFQs, which we hope to receive by the end of 2018. In this commercial action, needs to highlight the coordination between the German office and the Sales and Quality departments of TBA. Getting Mando to agree to come and visit the plant and audit it to enter the supplier panel means a perfect response to TBA’s strategic plan, which aims to continue betting on the piston as TBA’s strategic product and commer-cial base and at the same time diversifying into customers, introducing the fourth consumer known in Europe and of Asian origin. At the same time, it is a recognition of the work of the German office as a dynamizer for clients where up to now we did not have an entrance. Congrats!!

For the last months, Teknia Technologies Interior Trim & Seating (IT&S) D&D centre located in Teknia Azuqueca has been

investigating the technologies that allow back injection on textile (also known as In-Mold Lamination). The goal in mind is to be more capable to satisfy the needs of our interior components customers.First trials were conducted last Tuesday April 3rd in TAZ with positive results. These results provide the Plastic Division enough confidence to start quoting textile covered parts, with the importance this has for the interior and seating businesses. The success of the trials is, to a great extent, due to the close collaboration that Teknia Technologies has kept with Teknia Azuqueca team. This collaboration has been particularly fruitful with the Production department, which has always collaborated proactively to the consecution of these trials, and their experi-ence and control over the injection machines have been demonstrated. This is only the beginning, the development of the technology must continue with improving the injection parameters and the post-process-ing methods to guarantee the perceived quality of the parts, while making us remain competi-tive. We are confident that this will open a wide range of commercial opportunities that will contribute to reinforce our position as strategic supplier for OEMs on this product family.

Only 21 hours, 22 minutes and 56 seconds in real time, was enough for the Saladar with the Cabo Mayor

Teknia Group race team to win in the Trainning Category of the Ruta de la Sal 2018.The team participated in the Denia version of this traditional Mediterranean regatta. Departing from Denia and arriving in Ibiza, surrounding Formentera and Tagomago. A storm forecast of force 7 to the north of Ibiza get in places as the fleet passed. The weather forecast did not fail on this occasion and at 5.30 a.m. on Friday morning, the skipper required the entire crew on deck. Winds with gusts reaching 30 knots and waves of very short period sweeping the deck made sailing really complicated and uncomfortable.

Just 7 - 8 miles from the finish line, the girth of the tack of the genova was broken, forcing Saladar to sail alone with the mainsail and lose positions. The team waited for the wind intensity to drop before they could make a change of sail and finally crossed the finish line at 11:22 on Friday. The final classifications gave the team the victory in the Trainning Class, 4th in the Alpha2 Class and 13th in the overall classification with all classes (including the most competitive race boats). 96 boats participated in the Denia version. Not all of them could withstand the harsh conditions of the race and the Cabo Mayor Teknia Group Racing Team was rewarded for their good work on board.

Autoliv´s Zero Defect Policy. The program included among others the implementation of quality and continuous improvement tools according to its demands. Accordingly, the TUB team successfully launched and implemented initiatives, like Jidoka, Andon&PFMEA, go see & fix.On behalf of Teknia Group, we congratulate the entire team for their efforts and dedication. Our special thanks go to the Autoliv SD team, the TUB Management team and the representatives from Teknia Group divisional and corporate manage-ment for their persistence and involvement.

TKA – SUCCESSFUL TRANSITION AUDIT FROM ISO/TS 16949 TO IAFT 16949:2016Teknia Kalisz very successfully passed transition audit to the new IATF 16949:2016 standard. The audit took place from June 2nd to June 6th and was performed by Bureau Veritas. Before the audit TKA team successfully implemented the Teknia Global Quality and Environmental Management System. With our global processes implemented TKA achieved a very good result with only three minor non-conformities.On behalf of the Teknia corporate quality team, we would like to congratulate all TKA employees for the audit result and their efforts in imple-menting our Global Quality and Environmental Management System. Our special thanks go to the Kalisz Quality Department and plant Management, as well as Grzegorz Sroka for his support and guidance.

IATF 16949: 2016 TRANSITION AUDITSAs we have been informing this September the ISO/TS 16949 standard will be substituted by the new IATF 16949: 2016 standard. Consequently, all ISO/TS 16949 will expire. For this reason the plants have scheduled their IATF 16949 transition audits for the upcoming months of June and July. The IATF 16949 standard represents a new chal-lenge as the external auditors will verify in detail how the plant complies with the new standard. All new requirements must be properly addressed in the Quality and Environmental Management System, and documentation and records must evidence such compliance. The transition audits to the new standard will focus on leadership and management of processes. This means plant management and process owners are the main drivers for a successful audit. They need to be able to define the processes and performance indicators in the audit. From corporate quality we encourage all plant managers to make the final efforts to adjust their management system as needed. The global quality team supports the plants in all aspects, as we are doing since we started to adjust to our Global Quality and Environmental Management System.

TTA – SUCCESSFULLY PERFORMED NEW BUSINESS AUDITSOver the last weeks Teknia Tangier received sev-eral potential customers, amongst them VARROC and REY-DEL, to perform new business audits. Our local team together with the support from Teknia Martos and Teknia Plastic´s Technical Director, pre-pared and passed those audits with success. After the inauguration of our new Teknia Tangier plant 4 months ago, the audit approvals for new business are the very first step to increase our business in Morocco with the vision of continuing incorporating strate-gic customers to our portfolio in the region. On behalf of Teknia Group, we congratulate the entire team and look forward to the next successful cus-tomer audits.

The most sincere congratulations to TEKNIA NASHVILLE as is being awarded the General Motors Supplier Quality

Excellence Award for 2017. This is the Sixth year Global Supplier Quality & Development will be presenting this prestigious recognition award and TEKNIA has been awarded two in a row.The award is given to specific manufactur-ing locations and only GM top performing supplier manufacturing sites are eligible to receive it. Suppliers who receive this award have met or exceeded a very stringent set of quality performance criteria and have achieved the cross-functional support of the entire GM organization. This was an even bigger challenge as GM continues to launch many new and exciting products. In words of GM “2017 was a great year for GM, and without the performance of suppliers like TEKNIA GROUP this would never have been possible”. Again, congratulations on an exceptional team effort that helped to win this award.

NEW PROJECTS AWARDED BY GESTAMP

Keep arriving the good news from Teknia Pedrola, in this oportunity we have to highlight a new awarded in the stamping

activity, which is really important because it is an activity that it is at early stage in this plant.Gestamp Noain, Navarra, Spain, have decided to choose Teknia Pedrola to transfer a big stamping tooling, starting the production in May 2018.This part goes to the the VW Group. It is a body part assembled in the Seat Ibiza body and in the Volkswagen Polo body. It is important to highlight the high annual volume, 1.548.000 parts per year.Give thanks to all entire Teknia Pedrola team that make an effort to help to receive this business.

NEW BROSE PROJECTS

Teknia Pedrola continues strengthening the sales for the group and the bookings for this plant.

During the last few days we have been able to confirm the nomination of a new order in the seating area with our strategic customer Brose, which reinforces the relationship with the Brose STM plant in tube technology. At the same time, we are continuing to increase our sales volume with a customer focused on medium-high range vehicles, which last year brought us to €9 million in sales of metal products alone from our plants in Teknia Kalisz and Teknia Pedrola. This nomination is really interesting because it shows the synergy between the technology recently implemented in TEKNIA PEDROLA, stamping, with the manufacture of an assembled assembly (tube + stamping). This reflects the improvement in competitiveness for plants that combine both technologies, which opens many doors for the future development of the plant. The SOP is forecasted to April 2019, and this new Project (Kuga C482) helps to extend our business with this model until 2026. Finally we would to thank Teknia Germany support and the implication of the entire Teknia Pedrola team that brings this good news.

I t’s the phrase Pedro always said when he had the chance. But, for a team to work, has to be created,

making everyone to feel comfortable with its work and ready to give 100%.All this is achieved by giving the right guidelines, trust and knowledge and by making each team member feel that they are important and that they can bring great things to the company.

Work, tenacity, knowledge, a few coffees and a lot of “left hand” is what Pedro brought to all of us daily.Leadership within a group is not chosen. You don’t decide you want to be a team leader. It is the team itself that follows you having a series of characteristics that differentiate you from the rest. To be a leader you need to know how to transmit confidence

and credibility in what you do, be a good communicator, have high doses of persuasion and above all spread the passion for what you do to your team. When Pedro retires, we let him enjoy activities other than work that are also important in life. A great professional is leaving, a great person and above all, a good friend.THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING
