Teacher Learning for European Literacy Education (TeL4ELE -518080-LLP-2001-SE-COMENIUS-CMP) was an inter-European two-
year project (2011-2013). Literacy educators from Sweden, Denmark, Scotland, Portugal and Spain were trained in genre-based
literacy pedagogy, and specifically based on the research and outcomes of another European project Reading to Learn, which
fostered literacy among high and low achievers (Rose & Martin, 2012). Teachers learned how to apply complex linguistic, social
and psychological theories to their normal teaching, how to enrich material and foster in this way a more powerful and
challenging learning for students (Coffin, Acevedo & Lövstedt, 2013).
• To improve student learning outcomes, particularly forthe educationally disadvantaged.
• To develop the expertise of educators in a new literacypedagogy based on a functional model of language.
General
Goals
