The President is responsible for all operations and supervises all officers and staff of the American Postal Workers Union, as directed by the APWU National Constitution and Bylaws.
As the Union's chief executive officer, the President oversees and administers all theactivities conducted by the officers and staff of every department, division and committee of the Union, and is responsible for their day-to-day operations. The President is responsible for the National Agreement negotiated with the U.S. Postal Service.
The President is the editor of The American Postal Worker, and the official spokesperson for the Union on all matters (contractual, legislative or political), which concerns its members.

The Communications Department is responsible for the national union's communications with APWU members and the public.
The department publishes The American Postal Worker bimonthly magazine and periodic APWU News Bulletins. In addition, the Communications Department maintains the union's Web site, www.apwu.org.
The department also handles media relations; publishes pamphlets and brochures; helpsproduce APWU videos, assists in the development of COPA solicitations and other membership-wide mailings; and helps to create invitations to non-members to join theAPWU.
The Communications Department develops communications strategies for the national union, and in concert with APWU officers, reports on all the activities of the organization.
Media inquiries should be forwarded to the Communications Department. Questions concerning the magazine, bulletins, and the Web site also should be directed to the department (however, questions and information regarding address corrections for the magazine and bulletins should be sent to the Per Capita Department).

Human Resources manages personnel actions for APWU officers, staff, and employees to comply withFederal and state laws, including Worker's Compensation, employment verification, the FMLA and the ADA.Human Resources handles payroll matters in conjunction with the Accounting Department. Human Resources administers the time and attendance program, maintains personnel files and insurance records, orientation for new employees, as well as other policies relating to personnel and human resources issues.
Human Resources also administers the hotel arrangements for APWU Headquarters visitors, cellphone plans for APWU officers and employees, as well as various other special projects as assigned bythe Secretary-Treasurer.

The Secretary-Treasurer's Department is responsible for administering the Per Capita Section, Accounting Department, Human Resources, Information Technology Department and Logistics Department, as well as the scholarship programs offered by the APWU.
