Templates Done Right
Re-pairing the Headset
Identify Pain Points
• Recreating all of your existing templates
• Limited formatting options
• Having to create separate commands for each template
• Limited feature capabilities
• Cursor always starting at the bottom of your report

STEP 1: Locate Default Template Directory
When Microsoft Office or Corel WordPerfect is installed, a default template directory will be created to
store the templates used within these advanced word processing applications. We need to locate that
directory.
Office 2010
C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates
This is where we will save ALL of our templates
Note: By default, the AppData folder may be hidden, to enable the view:
Go to Control Panel > Folder Options > View > Select „Show hidden files and folder‟

STEP 2: Create your Templates
Advanced Word applications like Microsoft Word and Corel
WordPerfect offer users advanced features and functionality,
therefore; we will create templates using these applications as
you have a lot more options then with Dragon alone.
Note: Insert Variable voice fields will simplify with the
document creation process by allowing users to quickly navigate
their documents with verbal commands. Be sure to include
"normal" variable voice fields as much is possible to save time.
Note: Be sure to take of the advanced features while creating
your template (i.e. quick parts).

STEP 3: Create an “Open Template” command with Advanced Scripting
Open Dragon NaturallySpeaking‟s My Command Editor to create a custom command that will
allow Dragon to search the template directory and open the template of your choice.
MyCommand Name: open <name_of_template>. This will launch the Name Editor
Name Editor: Create a list with all your template names.
Group: Always put commands in a group to easily locate them within the Command Browser
Command Type: Advanced scripting
Start by setting the Object Reference Library. To do so, right click and go to References and choose
which word processing application you‟re using.

Take your efficiency to the next level by incorporating a Philips
SpeechMike III. This programmable, hand-held microphone
will allow you to program the microphone to automate several
