Recent Deaths: Dick Turpin Brother of Jane Dotson (Gary, Matt, and Sarah) who died suddenly last weekend. Bette Feder, Mother of Tom, Jane, Nancy and Mary

May they rest in the peace of Christ. Please pray for all who have died and all who are mourning the death of a loved one.

Abundance, Love, Joy... My heart is overflowing with gratitude as I reflect on the incredi-ble love that I felt last weekend at our parish celebrations of my 25th Anniversary of Ordination. The Friday night event was just spectacular! The spirited music, incredible food, and beautiful decorations, all enhanced a large gathering of people that filled the space with abundant love and God’s Grace! And then the gather-ings after the weekend Masses added even more joy to my heart. Words cannot express my gratitude for all of you who helped make it so special: from the planning team for the Friday event, to the hospitality team hosting the Saturday-Sunday receptions, to the garden and grounds crew who had the lawns looking so won-derful, to all of you who sent beautiful cards and gifts. Donations to our Guatemala Scholarship Fund are still being tabulated as I am so grateful for all who gave to this important charity for the education of our children in our sister parish. In connection with my anniversary, please keep in your prayers our three seminarians as well as the other young men in our parish who are ‘keeping the door open’ to a possible priesthood voca-tion. What are our seminarians doing for the summer?

Joel Seipp - is taking classes, including archeological research in Israel.

Nick Fleming - is assigned to St. Kateri Parish in Ridgeway, in the southeast part of our diocese.

Brother Rinju Chenet - continues his studies for the Institute of the Incarnate Word. In August, he will be doing mis-sion work with the very poor in Guyana. I am trying to raise funds to send with him to help the poor there. If you would like to donate toward Br. Rinju’s work with the poor, drop a marked envelope in the basket or get it to me.

Thank you so much for your prayers for our seminarians and for all priests! Fr. Jim Deiters

Guatemala Corner Catholic Relief Services ran a story recently about how a fungus has been causing a blight on coffee plants in Gua-temala, making life harder for small coffee farmers who already have a very hard life, selling a day's worth of coffee bean pickings (think of a big burlap or canvas sack full) for only about $6. This fungus has been killing up to 85% of coffee plants in the affected area. Because coffee plants are perennials, this destroys a significant investment that the farmers have made, not just for the year, but for the future, since new coffee plants take about 3-4 years to start producing coffee beans. Green Corner We know how unsustainable is the behavior of those who constantly consume and destroy, while others are not yet able to live in a way worthy of their human dignity. That is why the me has come to accept decreased growth in some parts of the world, in order to provide resources for other places to experience healthy growth.

Benedict XVI has said that “technologically ad-vanced socie es must be prepared to encourage more sober lifestyles, while reducing their energy consump on and improving its efficiency.”

SUMMER DAILY MASS SCHEDULE When school is out, our daily Mass schedule changes a bit by changing the Thursday Mass to 12:00 Noon. However, several of the re red priests who o en fill in at St. Clare when Fr. Jim is out of town are now too sick to help out and some are helping parishes with no priest at all. Therefore, there will be mes when there will be no Mass offered if we cannot find a replacement. Many parishes are now doing this. The following is the daily Mass schedule for local parishes:

St. Nicholas, O’Fallon: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday at 8:30 a.m. in St. Nicholas Day Chapel

Corpus Chris , Shiloh: Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8:00 a.m.

St. Teresa, Belleville: Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 8:15 a.m.

Holy Trinity, Fairview Heights: Wednesday and Friday at 8:10 a.m. (Thursday Word Service at 8:10 a.m.)

Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows, Belleville: Monday through Friday 7:30 and 11:30 a.m.
