Principal’s Report
We were so happy to see so many smiling faces coming
back through the gate last week. Our amazing teachers
were outside under the COLA ready to welcome our
students back. If your child is worried about returning to
school after an extended time learning offsite please
contact your child’s classroom teacher. We have many
strategies that we employ to support them and ensure that
they are able to settle back into our regular school routines.
I would like to say a big thank you to our parents for
remaining outside the school gates unless you need to
come to the office. We understand that this is not easy for
everyone, particularly for our parents of younger students.
While the advice is that children do not need to social
distance, it is the adults and their safety that we also must
carefully consider. I do appreciate your understanding
regarding this.
Have a fantastic week.

Reconciliation Week
Dyiramadilinya badhu Wiradjuridya Dhaagundha – I’m
proud to be on Wiradjuri Land.
The last week has been a particularly important week for
our school and community to celebrate reconciliation.
Reconciliation isn’t a completed action, it is an ongoing
practice, we act in ways that can bring our nation together.
This year’s theme ‘In this together’ highlights the
partnership between our First Nations peoples and broader
Australian society.
Our activities over the week have been designed to
enhance that connectedness.
▪ Students learning a range of words in Wiradjuri
language.
▪ Students creating an artwork together highlights
our connectedness embodied in a single artefact,
the piece of art.
▪ Acknowledgement Aboriginal culture and histories
as part of our assembly each morning.
I’d like to especially thank the students and the
classroom teachers for their work putting together
these experiences.
Student Attendance
As has been shared through our social media, all
students were expected to return to school full time.
Only students who have a medical certificate to stay at
home will be supported to learn from home in line with
regular school procedures. This is different to what was
offered during the Learning from Home period.
Students who live with a family member in one of the
categories identified as being at increased risk by the
AHPPC, should attend school unless a medical
practitioner advises otherwise in writing.
If your child is unwell, please do not send them to
school. If they become unwell at school, you or your
nominated emergency contact will need to collect them
immediately. To help us, please make sure these details
are up to date. If a student is absent without a medical
reason for more than three days, this will be recorded
as an unauthorised absence and followed up by regular
school procedures. If you need any support to get your
child back to school, please contact your school for
support

2021 Opportunity Class
Changes to the opportunity class placement process for
2020 Year 4 students
The 2021 Year 5 opportunity class placement process was
put on hold in April 2020 due to the COVID-19 situation.
We now have a revised and simplified timeline for the OC
placement process to ensure that students and families
can have certainty about their placement as soon as
possible.
The changes include:
• A new date for online applications. Parents must
apply between 9 June 2020 and 26 June 2020.
Late applications cannot be accepted.
• A new test date - Wednesday 16 September 2020.
To ensure fair and consistent assessment of students
across New South Wales, students will be offered places
based only on their test results this year – there will be no
school assessment scores.
There will also be no opportunity for appeals given the
tight timeframes.

School Uniform
As students have been returning to school and as the
weather gets colder we have observed that children have
not been wearing full school uniform. Some of the items
have been jumpers that are not school colour, hoodies and
beanies. It is important that students show that they are a
part of the Boree Creek team by wearing the full school
uniform.
There have been many questions regarding Riverina
jumpers. As a school we have decided that these jumpers
are only able to be worn on a Tuesday in line with our
sports day.
If a student arrives at school out of uniform we have a
small pool of clothing that we will provide to ensure all
students are in full school uniform. We do have high
expectations and would ask that you please ensure that
your child is wearing their full school uniform when they
leave in the morning.
If families need assistance with purchasing the correct
uniform, we can and will assist just let the school principal
know.
School Chaplain
Last week we welcomed a new staff member to our
school, Erima Collins-Roe. Erima has been appointed as
our school chaplain and for the 2020 school year will be
working Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 8:30am –
1:30pm. She will play an important role at our school and
will work primarily in the student wellbeing space. This is
fantastic for our school, in particular our students and
their wellbeing.
