Could you please support this by ensuring that your contact details remain up to date with the school at all times. Bin Audit- KESAB completed a Bin Audit at our school this week so we can see the impact of the BinShift system. Initial findings are looking really good with a comment that it was the best sorting Jo from KESAB has ever seen at any school. This audit will also help inform our next steps moving forward as a site. Phonics Growth A major focus of our reading improvement priority is the area of phonics which we are supporting through the implementation of the Read, Write Inc program R-5 and Freshstart program 5-7 as required. After a full term of implementation we are pleased to say that we have experienced an average score growth of 20% between term 1 and 2 results. We still have a long way to go but this is an extremely positive start. I will keep you updated as the year progresses. All year one students will be assessed in Phonics over the next 3 weeks for state wide data collection using a simple, fun assessment tool. Assembly It was a pleasure to attend our first assembly since the Covid disruption. Rooms 20 and 21 did a fantastic job in running the program and sharing some of the work they have been doing. It was also lovely to hear the Choir sing. The only thing missing was parents. Our next assembly will run on Wednesday the 9th of September 2:15 -2:55pm. We will be setting up a number of chairs at each end of the gym for parents/caregivers who wish to attend. These will be spaced apart to support social distancing and hand sanitiser will be provided. Father's Day Stall- This will be run from the community room on Friday 28 th of August. A flyer will be sent home early next week. Clothing/ Book Stall- We had a number of donations of child and adult clothing given to the site for the Nunga Cafe Reopening. We will be setting up trestle tables with these items at the front of the school on Monday 24 th Aug for families to come and help themselves. Evacuation Practice We have recently reviewed our evacuation procedure to support the safety of all students and staff if an internal emergency was to happen. We will practise this in week 8 so if you hear 4 long bells from the school please don't be alarmed. In the unlikely event that something was to happen at school that compromised your child's safety you would be notified. Kind Regards Julie Brown Term 3, Week 5 School Assemblies Wed 9 th Sep.
