  • Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Welcome to Term 4, traditionally a very busy time at Henley School. A warm

welcome to all new families who have recently started in the Junior Syndicate.

What an exciting beginning we had with our Grandparents’ Assembly on Friday

25th October. They are such a special group of people in our children’s lives -

no child can have too much love! It is encouraging to see so many surrogate

    grandparents attending too.

Our Term 4 Technology focus is part of our schoolwide theme “Footprints,

Sustaining our Planet”. The children will learn about important production and

processes involved in making products. They will visit Pics Peanut Butter factory

and design and make biodegardable plant pots.

Please continue to take time to call into your child’s classroom before or after

school and have a look at their work. We do appreciate your positive support and open communication. Kind regards

Natalie, Peg, Sabine, Carolyn, Mel, Rachel, Donna, Finn, Charlotte, Tracy and Jo

  • No Hat No Play

    ‘An Eye on Asia’ Celebration

In the last week of Term 3 we had a

special celebration day for our Multi-

cultural focus, “An Eye on Asia”. The

    children participated in dance, arts,

storytelling and games in their country

groups. They also enjoyed trying some

    traditional foods and viewing

    performances from Waimea College

    International students. It was a

wonderful way to end Term 3.

We have a policy in Term

    4 that children without

hats are to play under the

    trees and other shaded

    areas.

We are a sun smart school

    and it is important that

    children wear a named

    bucket or wide brimmed

    Henley School hat every

    day.

  • Reporting to Parents Teachers are currently busy assessing your child’s progress throughout the curriculum areas,

in readiness for report writing. Children are taking pride in completing samples for their

portfolios. We look forward to sending these home on Friday 13th of December when you will

also be informed of your child’s class placement for 2020.

Friendly Reminders • Footwear-We appreciate your child wearing

sensible sports shoes to school. Velcro fastening is

    easy for them to manage.

    • Scooters-We encourage your child to scooter to

school. Please ensure all children (including pre-

schoolers) walk their scooters across the

pedestrian crossings and within the Henley School

grounds, including the driveways. Children seen

walking their scooters may be given a scooter

token. All students who earn a scooter token will be

able to bring their scooters along on a special

    scooter day.

    • Athletics Day - We are looking forward to our

whole school Athletics Sports Day, Wednesday 13th

    November (postponement date Friday 15th

November). Please come along and support your

child. They are having fun developing a range of

skills including discus and shotput throws, long and

high jumps, as well as distance run and sprints

    during daily Physical Education lessons.

    • Market Day- Friday 22nd November

    • Junior Syndicate Picnic- Easby Park 12th

December, all families welcome 11:30-2:00pm. We

will be walking to the park which will provide an

opportunity for the children to practice their Road

    Safety skills.

  • `

Stepping Out This term the children will be learning to identify hazards and to describe and use safe

practices, when crossing the road. We are practising how to use the crossings correctly with

senior Road Patrollers and will have 2 sessions with Community Constables. We would appreciate

you reinforcing these practices when travelling to and from school with your child.
