PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
DISCO Our school disco last week was a successful event. Lots of dancing, fun and games meant our students had a great me. Thanks go to our wonderful P&C who organised a sausage sizzle and exci ng glow products. Thanks too to all those staff members who donated their evening to make this event possible.
DIRECTORS’ VISIT Last week Hillsborough Public School enjoyed a visit from our Director & Educa onal Leadership ,Ms Louise Gallagher and our Execu ve Director of School Performance, Mr Tim McCallum. It was wonderful to host our Directors and have the opportunity to showcase some of the great things we are achieving at our school. We were very proud to present our work in Mathema cs, Reading, Wri ng and personalised learning. Kindergarten ended our visit with a gorgeous performance of their class song. SWIM SCHOOL Our Swimming Scheme lessons began this week. Our students have enjoyed a great start to the program with some beau ful weather. Our Swimming Scheme is an important extracurricular opportunity for our families, offering an intensive two week swimming program for students in the early years. DEBATING Last Friday our ‘train-on’ deba ng team Callan P, Blake H, Cooper J and Hope S joined with other teams from local schools in the Cardiff Community of Schools Deba ng Gala day. The day saw teams presen ng a prepared debate and then engaging in an impromptu session where they worked together to develop a debate in an hour. The team performed very well and were the successful team on the day. Our students were congratulated and complemented by the adjudicators for their public speaking and their argument development. Thanks go to Mrs Pike for work with our deba ng teams this year.

KINDERGARTEN ORIENTATION Today was our first Kindergarten Orienta on session for all our children beginning Kindergarten in 2019. We are very pleased to welcome our new students and families to our wonderful school. If anyone in our community knows families who are s ll considering enrolling at Hillsborough Public, please encourage them to speak to our Office as soon as possible. We currently have posi ons available in all grades. INTERRELATE The Interrelate sessions will be held this evening in our school library. Thanks go to our P&C for their generosity in subsidising this program to make if more affordable for all Hillsborough families.

LIBRARY NEWS
STEMShare Program 3D Printer During Term 4 in the library, Stage 3 student learning will focus on a Christmas Around the World research unit. Stage 3 students also have access to a 3D Printer, on loan as part of the STEMShare Program. When using this exci ng new digital learning resource, students will be able to choose between crea ng their own, original 3D Christmas decora on design using Tinkercad: www. nkercad.com (requires parent email to join under 13 years, account must be set up at home) OR downloading and expor ng a 3D Christmas prin ng design from Thingiverse: www.thingiverse.com Toni Norton Teacher Librarian
