I felt honoured to be part of Platt community for Remembrance this year. The Head boy and Head girl represented the school beautifully, laying the wreath for the school. It was lovely to see so many of the

school community there as members of other local groups.

As a school we held our own Remembrance service at church. Thank you to the Voyagers for leading this very thoughtful and reflective

service.

200 club:

The Choir...

Our choir have been very busy over the last few weeks from performing in the church to

opening our school Christmas Fair and most recently singing carols

to the residents at Harpwood Residential Care home.

The children in the choir are dedicated, they practise every

Monday and are always so enthu-siastic about learning a new song, as well as performing with confi-dence, skill and a great sense of

fun.

We are very grateful to have Miss Self supporting the choir

especially with these additional events.

As a school we are privileged to have been offered the

opportunity to perform in Young Voices at the O2 in February. The children (and adults) are really

excited!

From the Pioneers...

On the 4th of November, we visited the PGL centre at Marchants Hill in Surrey, and were fortunate enough to stay in a shiny, brand new accommodation block

which was even better than a hotel! The site was huge, with all kinds of exciting activities, and amazing views of forestry and the surrounding countryside.

On the first evening, we played the game ‘Ambush’, where we split into two teams and took it in turns to hide in the woods, even though it was pitch black, disorientating and scary! The other team then had just ten minutes to find the

other team, using their beady eyes and head torches. The end result was a draw: 2-all.

The next two days were packed with excitement and adrenalin. Both of our teams had the chance to try the low ropes, challenge course, abseiling, rock

climbing, zip-wire, buggy building, rifle shooting and trapeze. Of all these activ-ities, we agreed that the abseiling and trapeze were the most terrifying – both

involved towering heights!

Our final two days included trying our luck at raft building, as well as finding our way during the orienteering activity and bouncing our way through an aero-

ball game (which is like basketball on trampolines). We also experienced the dizzying thrill of the giant swing, where our team mates had to pull a rope back in order to lift the giant swing as high as possible, before we pulled the green

rope to release us. We swung back and forth even higher than our school build-ings!

Each evening we carried out a variety of activities including ‘Splash’ where we had to protect our water balloon, ‘Robot Wars’ where we designed our own

model robot, and a movie night where we watched ‘Boss Baby’ and ate lots of sweets!

All in all we had a great time, which was definitely helped by the delicious food we were served throughout each day. We are certain that next year’s Year 6 class will really enjoy themselves, but we have one piece of advice: DON’T

LOOK DOWN!
