Automate Faster with Customized Framework All major network equipment manufacturers rely on Ixia to help keep them on the cutting edge. With development cycles increasingly compressed, network vendors need the right test and test automation framework in place to meet tough demands. The last thing you need is another proprietary automation solution.

In a continuous-integration/-testing/-delivery (CI/CT/CD) DevOps environment, the construction and configuration of the testbed needs to be completely orchestrated and automated. Whether you are working in a physical lab, virtual lab, or some hybrid environment that includes physical devices, private clouds, and public clouds, Ixia’s automation helps you maximize your investment and minimize test cycles.

Ixia’s team of professionals have been at the forefront in designing and implementing the industry’s widest array of test methodologies and automation frameworks. Our experienced Solution Architects, Professional Services, and Scripting Services teams will help you craft the ideal automation solution that addresses your specific goals. We create entire solutions from a variety of proven products, or simply accelerate the integration of our test tools into your custom automation framework.

Page 5: Test Module Overview - 4G VoLTE

The following architecture enables a faster and more comprehensive automation solution by using a REST API interface into an automation framework.

The Customer’s Automation Layer provides test and results management, as well as interface into network functions. Ixia’s Validation Layer provides the test tools and a repository for test modules.

The repository’s API enables clients a more flexible mechanism to communicate with all of our test tools; as well as a library of test modules. The test cases associated with these test modules are called by the Automation Layer with test parameters and pass/fail criteria. The test cases executed with Ixia’s test tools (IxNetwork, IxLoad, BreakingPoint, and LoadCore™ 5G Core Testing) enable functional, negative, and performance testing. These test modules will operate with either Keysight’s virtual or physical test tools.

What is a Test Module?

A Test Module is a collection of test cases to perform validation of a specific network function, or combination of network functions. Under each module, tests are grouped into different tests suites based on the underlying test tools used or the objectives of the test functions. All test cases can be operated individually or sequentially based on the API call to our repository. Test cases are based on the experience of Ixia performing testing for Service Providers, Network Equipment Manufactures (NEMs), and Enterprise customers.

This brochure summarizes the Test Modules that are being released by the Keysight’s Professional Services team to help customers achieve a faster return on investment (ROI) in their performance of testing. Each module summary contains a sample test network architecture followed by a list of the individual test cases in the module. Every test case also includes a short description of the goal of the respective test case.

This data is a snippet of information from the overall test plan that is supplied with each test module. Contact [email protected] for further details and ordering information associated with the test modules.

Testing Description

The PGW test module surrounds a PGW VNF and a PCRF by emulating an SGW on one side of the PGW, and the SGi interface on the other side. You can use this module to test and validate all the aspects related to the PGW VNF. For example, you can test the capability of a User Equipment (UE) to attach to the network, make VoLTE voice or video calls, send and receive an SMS, and other call features. You can also test transmitting HTTP traffic and other data types through the network. The module allows you to validate both X2 and S1 handovers in a variety of use cases.
