MIM courses are offered at two campuses and online. This provides you with access to the same course content and high-quality instructors in venues and locations that best meet your needs.

Shady Grove
Each of these offerings involves the same courses, the same requirements, and the same faculty – but in different forms and venues.
Program campuses
The iSchool is located in the Hornbake Building of the University of Maryland College Park campus, which is also a house for the UMD Career Center and the iSchool research centers.
iSchool classrooms, research labs, and faculty offices are near the center of campus, close to parking, mass transit, and the Stamp Student Union.
College Park campus proximity to Washington DC allows MIM students to benefit from the numerous professional development groups, events, and activities taking
place there on a regular basis.
COLLEGE PARK CAMPUS
Is located in the Interstate 270 corridor in Rockville, Maryland.
Is easily accessible from I-270, the Intercounty Connector, and the Capital Beltway, making it convenient for students who live and work in Northern Virginia, Frederick, and throughout the Washington DC, metro area.
The Universities at Shady Grove offer state-of-the-art facilities, shuttles to and from College Park, and free parking.
Its location in the I-270 corridor gives students access to internship, employment, and professional development opportunities in one of Maryland’s fastest-growing areas.

Doug Oard: Leading researcherin cross-language information
retrieval and eDiscovery. Former director of the MIM program.
Jimmy Lin: “Big data” researcher, with a particular focus on large-scale distributed algorithms for text processing.
Co-Author of “Data-Intensive Text Processing with MapReduce.”
iSchool Associate Dean for Research.

Jessica Vitak: Studies the social impacts of communication technology, specifically on the relationship between network composition, self-presentation strategies, and social capital.
Vanessa Frias-Martinez: Works with social computing and big data with the goal revealing behavioral fingerprints
that might be useful to organizations and policy makers working for social
development.

Brian Butler: Research areas include the dynamics of online communities and other technology-
supported groups, Wikipedia policies and rules, social networking systems, and the politics of technology implementation in organizations.

Kanti Srikantaiah: Edited several books on knowledge management. Former director of Center for Knowledge Management, Dominican University, Illinois.

Ping Wang: His research seeks to understand the popularity of IT innovations and the effects
of popular innovations on organizations. Director of the
iSchool Ph.D program.
Vedat Diker: Studies how best to capture organizational and business processes to achieve good data design. Offers courseS in relational and NoSQL database design, web-enabled databases, and business process modeling.
