Tetzaveh 1st Portion (Exo 27)20 “And you shall command the children of Isra’el, that they bring you clear oil of crushed olives for the light, to kindle the lamps continually. 21 In the Tent of Meeting, outside the veil that is in front of the Witness, Aharon and his sons shall keep it in order before יהוה from evening to morning. It shall be an everlasting regulation for their generations, from the children of Isra’el.

Tetzaveh 1st Portion (Exo 28)

1 “And you bring near to yourself your brother Aharon, and his sons with him, from among the children of Isra’el to serve me as cohanim: Aharon, Nadav and Avihu, El‘azar and Itamar, Aharon’s sons. 2 And you shall make set-apart garments for your brother Aharon, for esteem and comeliness.

Tetzaveh 1st Portion (Exo 28)3 And you shall speak to all that are wise hearted, whom I have filled with a spirit of wisdom, and they shall make Aharon’s garments to set him apart, so that he may serve me as a cohen. 4 And these are the garments which they shall make: a choshen, an ephod, a robe, an embroidered shirt, a turban, and a girdle. And they shall make set-apart garments for your brother Aharon and his sons to serve me as cohanim.

Tetzaveh 1st Portion (Exo 28)5 And they shall take the gold, and blue, purple and scarlet material, and fine linen.6 And they shall make the ephod of gold, blue, purple and scarlet material, and fine woven linen—the work of a skillful workman. 7 It shall have two shoulder pieces joined to its two edges, and so it shall be joined together.

Tetzaveh 1st Portion (Exo 28)8 The skillfully embroidered band of the ephod, which is on it, shall be of the same work, emanating from it: even of gold, of blue, purple and scarlet material, and fine woven linen.9 “And you shall take two shoham stones and engrave on them the names of the sons of Isra’el. 10 Six of their names on one stone and the other six names of the rest on the other stone, according to their birth.

Tetzaveh 1st Portion (Exo 28)11 Similar to the work of an engraver in stone, similar to the engravings of a signet, you shall engrave the two stones with the names of the sons of Isra’el; you shall set them in filigree settings of gold 12 And you shall put the two stones on the shoulder pieces of the ephod as stones of remembrance for the sons of Isra’el. And Aharon shall bear their names before יהוה on his two shoulders for a remembrance.

Tetzaveh 2nd Portion (Exo 28)13 And you shall make filigree settings of gold 14 and two chains of clean gold you will make them of twisted cordage work, and you will fasten the corded chains to the filigree settings.15 “And you shall make a choshen of right-ruling—the work of a skillful workman. You shall make it like the work of the ephod: of gold, of blue, purple and scarlet material, and of fine woven linen shall you make it.

Tetzaveh 2nd Portion (Exo 28)16 It shall be square and being folded double; its length shall be one span and its width shall be one span. 17 And you shall put into it stone settings, four rows of stones. The first row shall be an odem, pitdah and bareketh; 18 the second row: nofech, sappir and yahalom; 19 the third row: leshem, shevo and achlamah; 20 and the fourth row: tarshish, shoham and yashpheh. They shall be set in gold filigree in their settings.

Tetzaveh 2nd Portion (Exo 28)21 And the stones shall be for the names of the sons of Isra’el twelve, corresponding to their names; similar to the engravings of a signet, every one according to his name shall they be, for the twelve tribes.22 “You shall make for the choshen chains at the edges, of corded work, of clean gold.

Tetzaveh 2nd Portion (Exo 28)23 You shall make for the choshen two gold rings, and you shall put the two rings on the two ends of the choshen. 24 And you shall put the two gold cords on the two rings at the ends of the choshen, 25 and the two ends of the two cords you shall fasten upon the two settings, and these you shall put upon the shoulder pieces of the ephod, on its front part.

Tetzaveh 2nd Portion (Exo 28)26 And you shall make two gold rings and shall put them on the two ends of the choshen on the edge of it, which is on the inner side of the ephod. 27 And you shall make two gold rings and put them on the two shoulder pieces of the ephod, from below, toward its front, adjacent to its seam above the band of the ephod.

Tetzaveh 2nd Portion (Exo 28)28 And they shall bind the choshen by its rings to the rings of the ephod with a blue cord, so that it may be upon the band of the ephod, and the choshen will not move off the ephod.29 “Thus shall Aharon bear the names of the sons of Isra’el in the choshen of right-ruling over his heart when he enters the Holy, as a remembrance before יהוה, at all times.

Tetzaveh 2nd Portion (Exo 28)

30 You shall put the Urim and the Tumim into the choshen of right-ruling so that they shall be over Aharon’s heart when he comes before יהוה. And Aharon shall bear the right-ruling of the children of Isra’el over his heart before יהוה at all times.

Tetzaveh 3rd Portion (Exo 28)31 “And you shall make the robe of the ephod entirely of blue cloth. 32 Its opening at the top shall be turned inward; its opening shall have a binding around it, the work of a weaver. It shall have an opening like the opening of a coat of armor; it will not be torn. 33 And on its hem you shall make pomegranates of blue, purple and scarlet material, all around on its hem, and bells of gold between them all around.

Tetzaveh 3rd Portion (Exo 28)

34 A golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate, on the hem of the robe, all around. 35 It shall be on Aharon when he performs the service, and its sound shall be heard when he enters the Holy before יהוה and when he leaves, so that he will not die.

Tetzaveh 3rd Portion (Exo 28)36 “And you shall make a plate of clean gold and you shall engrave upon it like the engraving of a signet:

SET-APARTNESS TO יהוה.37 And you shall put it upon a cord of blue wool and it shall go over the turban, and it shall be opposite the front side of the turban.

Tetzaveh 3rd Portion (Exo 28)38 It shall be upon Aharon’s forehead, and Aharon shall bear the guilt of the set-apart gifts that the children of Isra’el set apart, for all their set-apart gifts. It shall be upon his forehead always to make them favorable before יהוה.39 “You shall weave the long shirt of fine linen, and you shall make a linen turban. And you shall make the girdle of woven work.

Tetzaveh 3rd Portion (Exo 28)40 For Aharon’s sons you shall make tunics and make them girdles, and you shall make them high turbans for esteem and comeliness. 41 With these you shall clothe Aharon your brother and his sons along with him, and you shall anoint them and ordain them with full authority and set them apart so that they may serve me as cohanim.

Tetzaveh 3rd Portion (Exo 28)42 “And make for them linen trousers to cover the body of their nakedness; they shall reach from the waist down to the thighs. 43 They shall be worn by Aharon and by his sons when they enter the tent of meeting or when they approach the altar to attend in the Holy, so they will not bear crookedness and die.“It shall be a lasting statute for him and for his descendants after him.

Tetzaveh 4th Portion (Exo 29)1 “And this is the task that you shall do for them to set them apart to serve me as cohanim: Take one young bull and two rams, perfect ones. 2 And matzah and matzah cakes mixed with oil, and matzah wafers anointed with oil; you shall make them out of fine wheat flour. 3 And you shall put them in one basket and you shall bring them in the basket, and the bull and the two rams.

Tetzaveh 4th Portion (Exo 29)4 Then you shall bring Aharon and his sons to the door of the tent of meeting and wash them with water. 5 And you shall take the garments and dress Aharon with the tunic, with the robe of the ephod, with the ephod, and with the choshen. And you shall gird him with the band of the ephod. 6 You shall put the turban upon his head and put the set-apart emblem upon the turban.

Tetzaveh 4th Portion (Exo 29)7 You shall take the anointing oil and pour it on his head and anoint him. 8 And you shall bring his sons near and you shall dress them with tunics 9 and you shall gird them with girdles, Aharon and his sons, and you shall dress them with high turbans. And the kehunah shall be a permanent statute for them.And you shall invest Aharon and his sons with full authority.

Tetzaveh 4th Portion (Exo 29)10 “You shall bring the bull to the front of the tent of meeting, and Aharon and his sons shall lay their hands upon the head of the bull. 11 You shall then slaughter the bull before יהוה at the entrance of the tent of meeting. 12 And you shall take some of the blood of the bull and put it on the horns of the altar with your finger, and you shall pour out all the blood upon the base of the altar.

Tetzaveh 4th Portion (Exo 29)13 You shall then take all the fat that covers the entrails, and the appendage with the liver, also the two kidneys and the fat that is upon them, and make them go up in smoke upon the altar. 14 But the flesh of the bull, its skin and its dung you shall burn in fire outside the camp. It is a sin offering.15 “And you shall take the one ram, and Aharon and his sons shall lay their hands upon the ram’s head.

Tetzaveh 4th Portion (Exo 29)16 You shall slaughter the ram and you shall take its blood and sprinkle it on the altar all around. 17 And you shall cut the ram into its pieces and you shall wash its entrails and its legs, and place them with its pieces and with its head. 18 And you shall make the entire ram go up in smoke upon the altar. It is a burnt offering made to יהוה, it is a fragrance of satisfaction, a fire offering for יהוה.

Tetzaveh 5th Portion (Exo 29)19 “And you shall take the second ram, and Aharon and his sons shall lay their hands upon the ram’s head. 20 You shall slaughter the ram, take some of its blood and put it upon the tip of Aharon’s right ear and upon the tip of Aharon’s sons’ right ears, upon the thumbs of their right hands, and upon the big toes of their right feet. And you shall sprinkle the blood upon the altar all around.

Tetzaveh 5th Portion (Exo 29)

21 You shall then take some of the blood that is upon the altar and some of the anointing oil and sprinkle it upon Aharon and upon his garments, upon his sons and upon the garments of his sons with him; thus he shall become set-apart along with his garments and his sons and their garments with him.

Tetzaveh 5th Portion (Exo 29)22 “And you shall take out of the ram the fat, and the fat tail, and the fat that covers the entrails, the appendage of the liver, the two kidneys along with the fat that is upon them, and the right thigh, (for it is a ram of ordination), 23 from the basket of matzot that stands before יהוה take one loaf of bread, one cake of oil bread, and one wafer.

Tetzaveh 5th Portion (Exo 29)24 And you shall put it all upon Aharon’s hands and upon his sons’ palms and you shall wave them before יהוה as a waving. 25 You shall then take them from their hands and burn them on the altar as a burnt offering, as a fragrance of satisfaction before by fire. 26 And you shall take יהוה It is an offering made to .יהוהthe breast of the ram of ordination which is Aharon’s, and wave it as a waving before יהוה, and it shall become your portion.

Tetzaveh 5th Portion (Exo 29)27 “And you shall set apart the breast of the waving and the thigh of the contribution, which waved and which was lifted up, of the ram of ordination, of that which is Aharon’s and of that which is his sons’. 28 And so it shall remain for Aharon and his sons as the perpetual share from the children of Isra’el; for it is a contribution. And it shall remain a contribution from the children of Isra’el of their peace offerings; it is their contribution to יהוה.

Tetzaveh 5th Portion (Exo 29)29 “The set-apart garments that are Aharon’s shall be for his sons after him, to be exalted through them and invested with full authority through them. 30 Seven days shall the one of his sons who will be the cohen in his place wear them, the one who is to enter the tent of meeting to attend in the Holy.31 “You shall take the ram of ordination and cook its flesh in a set-apart place.


32 Aharon and his sons shall eat the flesh of the ram and the bread that is in the basket, at the entrance of the tent of meeting. 33 And they shall eat those offerings with which the atonement was made, to invest them with full authority and to set them apart. But a stranger shall not eat them, because they are set-apart.

Tetzaveh 5th Portion (Exo 29)34 If any of the flesh of the perfection offering or of the bread is left over until the next morning, what is left over you shall burn in fire. It must not be eaten, because it is a set-apart thing.35 “So shall you do to Aharon and his sons, according to all that I have commanded you; for seven days you shall perform their investiture.

Tetzaveh 5th Portion (Exo 29)36 And a bull as a sin offering you shall offer up every day for the atonements. And you shall cleanse the altar by making atonement upon it, and you shall anoint it, in order to set it apart. 37 For seven days you shall make atonement upon the altar and set it apart. Henceforth, the altar shall be a holy of holies. Whatever touches the altar will be set-apart.

Tetzaveh 6th Portion (Exo 29)38 “And this is what you shall prepare upon the altar: lambs in their first year, two a day, continually. 39 The one lamb you shall offer up in the morning and the other lamb you shall offer up in the afternoon. 40 And one tenth of fine flour, thoroughly mixed with a quarter of a hin of pressed olive oil, and a libation of one quarter of a hin of wine, for the one lamb.

Tetzaveh 6th Portion (Exo 29)41 And the other lamb you shall offer up in the afternoon; you shall offer it up like the grain offering of the morning and its libation—as a fragrance of satisfaction, a fire offering to יהוה.42 “It shall be a continual burnt offering for your generations, at the entrance of the tent of meeting before יהוה, where I shall arrange meetings with you, to speak to you there.

Tetzaveh 6th Portion (Exo 29)43 There I shall arrange meetings with the children of Isra’el, and it shall be set apart by my esteem.44 “I shall set apart the tent of meeting and the altar and I shall set apart Aharon and his sons to serve me as cohanim. 45 I shall dwell in the midst of the children of Isra’el and I shall be their Elohim.


46 They shall know that I, יהוה, am their Elohim, who brought them out of the land of Mitsrayim in order that I may dwell in their midst. I am יהוה, their Elohim.

Tetzaveh 7th Portion (Exo 30)1 “You shall make an altar for bringing incense up in smoke; you shall make it out of acacia wood. 2 It shall be one cubit long and one cubit wide, a square, and two cubits high—its horns shall be one piece with it. 3 You shall overlay it with clean gold, its top, its sides all around, and its horns; and you shall make for it a gold moulding all around.

Tetzaveh 7th Portion (Exo 30)4 You shall make two gold rings for it underneath its moulding on its two sides, you shall make them on its two sides, so that it should serve as holders for poles with which to lift it. 5 You shall make the poles out of acacia wood and overlay them with gold. 6 And you shall put it in front of the dividing veil, which is upon the ark of the witness—in front of the atonement lid, which is upon the witness, where I will arrange to meet with you.

Tetzaveh 7th Portion-Maftir (Exo 30)

7 “And Aharon shall burn sweet incense on it every morning when he tends the lamps, he shall burn incense on it. 8 And when Aharon lights the lamps in the afternoon, he shall burn incense on it. There shall be continual incense before יהוה throughout your generations. 9 You shall not offer strange incense on it or a burnt offering, or a grain offering, and you shall not pour a drink offering on it.

Tetzaveh Maftir (Exo 30)

10 And Aharon shall make atonement upon its horns once a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonement, once a year he shall effect atonement upon it throughout your generations. It is most set-apart to יהוה.”

Tetzaveh Haftarah (1Sa 15)2 Thus says יהוה-Tzva’ot: ‘I remember that which ‘Amalek did to Isra’el, how he laid wait against him on the way as he came up from Mitsrayim. 3 Now go and smite ‘Amalek and totally destroy all that they have, and do not spare them; but put to death both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey.’ ”

4 And Sha’ul summoned the people together, and mustered them at T’la’im—two hundred thousand foot soldiers and ten thousand men from Y’hudah. 5 Sha’ul came to a city of ‘Amalek and set an ambush in the ravine.

Tetzaveh Haftarah (1Sa 15)6 And Sha’ul said to the Keni, “Go, leave, come down from among the ‘Amaleki so that I do not destroy you with them; for you showed kindness to all the children of Isra’el when they came up out of Mitsrayim.” So the Keni moved away from amidst the ‘Amaleki.7 And Sha’ul smote the ‘Amaleki, from Havilah until you come to Shur, which is east of Mitsrayim.

Tetzaveh Haftarah (1Sa 15)8 He caught Agag the sovereign of the 'Amaleki alive, and he totally destroyed all the people with the edge of the sword. 9 But Sha’ul and the people spared Agag and the best of the sheep and the cattle, the fatlings, and the lambs—and all that was good, and they were not willing to destroy them completely, but everything that was despised and worthless, that they totally destroyed.

10 Then the word of יהוה came to Sh’mu’el, saying: 11 “I regret that I have set up Sha’ul to be sovereign, for he has turned back from following me and has not carried out my words.” And Sh’mu’el was displeased, and he cried out to יהוה all night.

Tetzaveh Brit Chadashah (Heb 13)

9 Do not be carried away by various and strange teachings. For it is good for the heart to be established by favour, not by foods which have not profited them that have been so occupied with them. 10 We have an altar from which those who serve the Mishkan have no right to eat.


11 For the bodies of those beasts whose blood is brought into the Set-apart Place by the cohen hagadol as an offering for sin, are burned outside the camp. 12 Therefore יהושע also, that he might set apart the people through his own blood, suffered outside the gate. 13 Let us go out to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach. 14 For here we do not have a lasting city, but we seek the city which is to come.


15 Through him, therefore, let us continually offer a slaughter offering of praise to Elohim—that is, the fruit of our lips that give thanks to his name. 16 And do not forget to do good and to share, for with such slaughter offerings Elohim is pleased.17 Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your lives as those who must give an account. Let them do this with joy, and not with grief, for that is unprofitable for you.
