Saving Lives, Time and Resources www.texasprovinggrounds.org Texas AV Proving Ground Partnership Texas AV Proving Ground Partnership The Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI), The University of Texas at Austin’s Center for Transportation Research (UT/ CTR), and Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) are leading the Texas Automated Vehicle (AV) Proving Ground Partnership. Each research agency con- ducts connected and automat- ed vehicle (CAV) research and has proving grounds on their campuses for development and testing. U.S. DOT Designated AV Proving Ground The Texas Automated Vehicle (AV) Proving Ground Partnership was one of ten nationally-designated sites, and the only state-wide consortium. Led by the three Texas AV research entities, the proving grounds offer controlled envi- ronments where the complete life-cycle development of AVs can be assessed. These sites include The Texas A&M University System’s RELLIS Campus on over 2,000 acres with multiple mile-long high-speed sections and an urban grid; UT/CTR’s university campus with private streets, parking lots, and J.J. Pickle Campus; and the SwRI campus on 1,200 acres with on-and off-road testing facilities. Texas Innovation Alliance The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) leads 32 municipal and regional partners with a shared interest in mobility and safety challenges related to automated and connected vehicles on public road ways. These cities and regions across Texas are partnering with TTI, UT/CTR, and SwRI to form the Texas Innovation Alliance in putting Texas on the path to becoming the nation’s first “Smart State,” which aims to create a platform for innovation to address community challenges.
