When dependents live outside the Texas Health Aetna CarePlus network With clearly defined service areas, providers in the Texas Health Aetna network can better coordinate care. But what if your employees have dependents who don’t live nearby?

Coverage options for dependents

Suppose some of your employees have children going to school in another county or state. We can help.

Out-of-area option: If they live outside the Texas Health Aetna CarePlus network, we can get them access to one of our national preferred provider organization networks.

Important things to remember

• Let us know within 30 days when a dependent permanently moves out of the Texas Health Aetna CarePlus network service area or permanently moves back into the Texas Health Aetna CarePlus network service area.

• The Texas Health Aetna out-of-area dependent will get their own member ID card.

- If the employee is enrolled in a health maintenance organization (HMO) plan, the dependent will also appear on the employee’s family member ID card.

- If the employee is not enrolled in an HMO plan, they will not appear on their family member ID card.

• We’ll send all bills to the employee.

• We’ll track the out-of-area dependent’s deductibles and cost shares based on their plan design, not the employee’s.
