1976: Sigmatex was founded. It is one of the earliest suppliers of imported textile

products. Its main focus was the importation of

hospitality, healthcare and industrial terry products

from India to supply US distributors.

Early 1980s: Sigmatex was instrumental in establishing the first

towel mill in Sri Lanka, Philippines and

Malaysia.

1979: Sigmatex formed strategic partnerships

with textile manufacturers in Pakistan.

1982: Sigmatex established trade

relations with Chinese manufacturers in

Shanghai and Beijing to become one of the first US companies to

import terry towel products from China

into the US.

Mid 1980s: By this time Sigmatex was importing

50% of India and Pakistan's terry towel

quota, 100% of Sri Lanka, Philippines and Malaysia's terry towel quota and a
