TF Model Hind MI-24 InstructionsThank you for purcahsing TF Model's Mi-24, please read all instructions carefully before proceeding with the actual assembly. Some steps arerequired to be done first, so please do a complete dry fitting of all theparts before assembly.

Wood Formers Assembly.

Locate all the wood formers as in the photo.

First dry fit the landing gear wood formers and bearersas in the photo.

The front of the landing gear formers and bearers assemblyshould sit flush with the fuselage stepped panel line onthe inside. Use photo for reference.

Dry fit the 2 fuselage formers in front of the landing gear former assembly. Please note that sometriming of the formers maybe required.

Dry fit the front landing gear formers andbearers onto the base board as in the photo.

Now dry fit the base board with the front landing gear formerassembly into the fuselage onto the formers. All the formersare of interlocking design, please ensure that all the tongues fits into all the holes and that they are flush.

Once satisfied with the fit and alignment of all the formers, you can now glue them into place.

Quick Lock System Assembly

Locate the Quicl Lock system formers as in photo.

Assemble and glue the system as in photo.

Screw the Quick Lock System onto the rear of the mechanicusing photo as reference.

Use one shim at the front of the mechanic.Use the mechanic front mounting holes as a referenceand mark the holes for drilling.Glue the shim onto the base boardafter drilling through the base board.

Dry fit the mechanic into the fusealge to test the Quick Lock System.

Fit the nose section to the main fuselage temporarily.Mark holes for drilling. Drill both sides, then secure thenose to the main using 4 screws.

After completeing the above step, trip away the area in the photo for the front landing gear former.

Fit the top section to the lower fuselage assembly, align the sides untilflush, then tape into place. Remove the nose section for better access. Mark from the inside locations for drilling. Drill through both sides. Glue the pinson the top section. Also glue the magnets at this time. The locations of the pins and themagnets are left up to the cutomer to determine to best suit them.

Air Retract Landing Gear Assembly

Turn over the fuselage and locate the main landing gear bearers asin photo.

Locate the Rudder servo tray as in the photo.

Glue the servo tray into the main landing gearformers as in the photo. Please note the tongueon the rudder tray fits into the groove on theformer.

Screw in the retract unit using the supplied screws.Install the landing gear wire as well. Do both sides alongwith the front retract unit. Hook up the retract system according tothe retract instructions and test the operation.

After testing the operation of the retracts, tape a piece of clear plastic overthe gear opening and mark the perimeter of the opening and the landing gear wire. You need to put the landing gear in the retarcted position for tthis.

Install the rear wheel onto the gear strut and again, put thegear into the retracted position. Once retracted the gear, mark the outlineof the wheel, like in the photo. Procees to cut oput the outline of thewheel and gear strut.

After cutting out the outline, tape the clear plastic intoposition, matching the perimeter of the gear opening.Operate the landing gear and check that the gear operatessmoothly without binding. Trim the plastic until you achievethis.

Once you are satisfied with the shape of the opening,

locate the fiberglass gear door, note that there is

a right and left side, and superimpose the clear plastic onto the glass

door. Transfer the outline of the opening from the clear plastic to theglass door.

Cut the opening following the outline on the glass door.

Temporarily fix the glass door onto the fuselage and fix with tape.

Operate the retract to test for any binding. Trim the opening carefully until no binding occurs during retract operation.

Rear Elbow Gear Box Assembly

Locate the elbow gear box wood formers in the photo.

Please note that the pulley wheel requires 3 washers each side.

Assemble the elbow gear box using the photo as reference.Do not glue the tail tube at this time.

Gluing the elbow gear box

Photo shows the approximate location of the main shaft.

Dry fit the elbow gear box into the tail from the rear, do not glue.Fit in the mechanics into the fuselage and align the tail with the elbow gear box.Run the belt up the elbow gear box and install the pulley wheel. Put on the tail gearbox along with the belt. Make sure the mechanics' main shaft is locatedin the approximate location shown in the above photo before proceeding. If there is excessive tail tube length, now is the time to measure the length to cut off. Now move the elbow assembly aroung until thereis no binding of the belt against the tube or the elbow assembly. Mark the location ofthe elbow assembly for gluing. Take out the mechanic and the tail gearbox and remove the belt, then glue in the elbow assembly into the previously marked location.

The above photo shows the relationship between the tail boom and theelbow assembly. All parts shown outside of the fuselage for clarity.

Tail elbow Gear Box Final Assembly

Once the elbow assembly is glued in now is the time to glue in the former 11 intothe fuselage and elbow assembly. Before gluing please refer carefully to the followingphotos in this section for clarity.

The fixing ring should be slipped onto the tail tube.

The above photo shows the relationship of all the parts. Again all partsare shown outside of the fuselage for clarity. Once you have dry fitted and are satisfied with the placement of former 11 glue itto the fuselage. After former 11 has dried and with the mechanics installed and the tail boom correctly centered, IMPORTANT !! GLUE THE FIXING RING TO FORMER 11 ONDO NOT GLUE THE TAIL TUBE TO THE FIXING RING AND FORMER 11.

A photo of the complete assembly.

Rudder Control Rod Assembly

Tail Gear Box Assembly

Once the mechanics is installed and the elbow assembly is fixed, you can install the stock tail gearbox that comes with your mechanics. An optional all metal gearbox is available to siinstallation.

Follow the instructions on the mechanic's manual and assemble the tail gearbox ontothe tail tube in the elbow assembly. Once complete, pull on the tail gearbox and tail tube to gcorrect belt tension. Once belt tension is correct, check the alignment of the tail rotor shaft thGLUE the tail tube to the elbow assembly frame.

Connect the rudder control rod to the rudder pitch lever.

Using photo as reference, trim off the tail cover for the tail gear box and therudder pitch bell crank. Trim until there is no binding during rudder operation.

Tail cover completed.

Wings And Stabilizers Assembly

Locate the wing spars for the weapon wing stubs.

Open up a hole in the wing stub for the spar to pass through.Open another corresponding hole in the fuselage wingfillet. The hole should have former F4 dividing it.

Dry fit the spar into the wing stub, trim the top and bottom of the hole fora tight fit. Do not glue the spar at this time.

Photo shows how the spar sits in relationship to the former F4.The parts are shown outside of the fuselage for clarity only.F4 should already be glued into the fuselage.Fit the spar into the wing stub and then offer it upto the wing fillet on the fuselage. Tape the wing stub into place, move the wing stub around until a flush fit is achieved on all edges. From the inside of the fuselage, glue the spar to either the frontface or the rear face of former F4.Once the spar is glued, noe glue the wing stub onto the spar and the fuselage.

Use the photo as reference, locate the rear stabilizer and mark a holein the fuselage for drilling. Drill a 4 mm hole on both sides of the fuselage for thespar. Make a short length of spar from scrap ply.Note the circle high lighted in the above photo. The spar should sit against the bottom board of the elbow assembly for maximumstrength. After gluing in the spar, glue the spar into the stabilizer.
