The Science Fair exhibition “The 8th PCSHS Phetchaburi & BGU Projects Challenge” is

set for the student in Grade 11 of Princess Chulabhorn Science High School, Phetchaburi

to present and exhibit their works and achievements in projects by both oral and posters

presentations in various subjects due to their interest. We also get the honors from many

instructors, lecturers from Silpakorn University, King Mongkut’s University of Technology

Thonburi and Phetchaburi Rajabhat University which are our Mentor University, Kasetsart

University, Siam University, Kanchanaburi Rajabhat University and the teachers from other

schools in The Secondary Education Service Area Office 10 give us the mercy to be the

judges and commentators to suggest and give the solutions for projects. These will be led

to develop student’s projects in the future. It is also the beginning for students to make

the posters and abstracts in English by the cooperation and suggestion from The Foreign

Language Department’s teachers in editing the drafts to be complete and correct. The

organizing team of Science Fair Exhibition Committees has already collected the abstracts

of students’s projects about 60 projects in this handbook.

We hope that the Project Fair Exhibition 8th will offer and open the opportunity for

students to express what they have learnt. This will reflect their new visions and wisdoms

which they are interested. They don’t only present their works to the participator, but also

activate other grades of students to be recognized and interested in devoloping projects.

Finally, this cooperation between Science and other departments will be the powerful for

our school projects development in the future. Moreover, there are 8 projects from Bunkyo

Gakuin University Girls’ High School and other school in local area participate in this

symposium. So it is a special occasion that the students will learning from each other and

our cooperation will contribute to the development of academic and social in the future.

Title of plenary lecture: Solar Radiation: A renewable energy resource with a lot of unknown nature

Abstract Knowledge on solar radiation is essential to research and applications of solar

energy. For this reason, the research on solar radiation has been intensively carried out at the

Department of Physics, Silpakorn University for forty years (1979 – 2019). During this period,

solar radiation measuring stations were established at many locations in Thailand. The

measurements include various solar radiation bands namely, ultraviolet band (0.28 – 0.4

micron), visible band (0.4 – 0.7 micron), near infrared band (0.7 – 0.9 micron) and broadband

(0.3 – 3.0 micron). Statistical characteristics of these bands were analyzed and several radiation

models were developed. In order to know geographical distribution of these solar radiation

bands over Thailand, mapping techniques of solar radiation from satellite data in different

bands were developed and used to generate solar radiation maps for this country.

Additionally, satellite-derived solar radiation maps for Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Vietnam

were also carried out. The 40-year research on solar radiation at Silpakorn University has

provided a great deal of knowledge and information for people working in solar energy

research and applications in this region. Historical background of the solar radiation research

at this University will be presented.
