On the 10thof October 2019, Year 3 and 4 went to Stonehenge to find out more about it. Did you know that the Celtic High Priests started to build Stonehenge in 3000BC? Stonehenge is 5,018 years old. William and Ted, in Y4, said it was excellent and they learnt alot from the trip.

Year 3 & 4 Trip to Stonehenge

Big Soup Day! Every year we work together as a school to make soup and bread using the produce from the kitchen garden. After school, some of the Year 6 children helped to sell the soup and bread. This year the money that we made was given to WaterAid. The total amount of money made was £352.

GORING SCHOOL CHRISTMAS

Hello Yellow Day!

Hello Yellow Day was on Wednesday 9th

October 2019. The children (and teachers) came to school wearing a piece of yellow clothing or a yellow accessory. We celebrated Hello Yellow Day because it was Mental Health Day

on the Thursday 10th

October 2019. We were raising money for the charity Young Minds. During the day we thought about mental health in our classes and completed a range of activities.

We have had builders at the school all summer long. They have been working hard on Miss Grey’s and Mrs Mitchell’s and Mrs Wilson’s classrooms. The builders were replacing all the windows and working on the roof. Then the wonderful Mr Trimmings painted the classrooms so they feel fresh and new. The builders and Mr Trimmings did a fantastic job. Year 6 have already moved back in and Year 3 will be moving soon!

Emma A My favourite thing in the world are maltese puppies. I have a guinea pig called Elvis. My favourite food is pizza. I joined newspaper club because I haven’t done it before and I like trying new things.

Archie’s Teddy Tombola Archie G (who is in Year Six) ran a Teddy Tombola this term. He raised £67 (in ten minutes) for UNICEF which is a charity that helps children all over the world. Archie told us, „I did it because I do something to raise money for UNICEF every month and this is what I chose to do for September”. We think what Archie is doing is AMAZING and kind and we wish him luck with his future fundraising ideas.

On Thursday 17th October lots of children went to Langtree to complete in this years cross country competition. Everyone did really well and demonstrated great sportsmanship. Goring won the competition and all the children came back happy and proud.

On Thursday 3rd October there was a year 3 & 4 boys football tournament. The boys who took part had lots of fun and enjoyed their

Playground Make Over… The playground is getting new paint work soon. There will be new games painted on the floor for everyone to play. The school council worked hard in order to narrow down the choices and a vote decided which things to choose. Every class has a copy of the plan in their class rooms so we all know what to expect. We can’t wait to see the end result. Thank you to the PTA who are paying for this.
