Did you know that the only time a month begins and ends on the same day of the week is February in a leap year? Although we will be seeing a leap year in another two years, imagine all the things you could do with one extra day in hand. Maybe you could try more than one of the magic tricks in treehouse or sit with a large jumbo

issue and solve the treehouse puzzles. This week meet the duo who made your favourite cartoon Tom and Jerry in Discobang’s Pad and try out our fun art tutorial. Please do write to us and let us know what you love reading. Send us your poems, drawings, and write ups. Have an awesome week.

Solution: The owner removed and hid the painting himself, trying to make it look like an outside job. But he forgot one little detail: If a burglar had entered the room through the window, spots of melted snow would be seen on the floor.

Don’t we all know Tom and Jerry? Who made this famous cartoon that we’ve all been watching for years? How did it come to be?

Tom and Jerry wasn’t always Tom and Jerry. It was made by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, in the 1940s, and was worked on before it became the well-known pair we now know. William and Joseph wanted to make a cat-and-mouse cartoon about a grey tabby cat called Jasper and a mouse called Jinx. When the

cat and mouse cartoon was going to be made into a series, they decided to give it a new name. The name “Tom and Jerry” was picked by chance from a hat.

From then, the house cat and mouse have been chasing one another and fighting for years, making plans to trap, burn and kill without winning, and making us laugh all the while.

Seen along the rocky coasts of Britain, Mermaids are known for their beautiful and charming voices.

Mermaids have been known to love jewels and beautiful clothes. Whenever they saw humans, they would quickly take all their riches and dive to the bottom of the sea. It was believed that they got these from the ships that had sunk long ago.

There was a story that two young girls once met a mermaid on a beach. The mermaid had given them each a lovely piece of cloth with a surprise wrapped inside, making them promise not to open it until they were home. One girl who could not wait, and opened it before reaching home, found only dirt. The young girl who waited until she reached home found a beautiful pearl necklace inside.

Kiki, Marina, Shout and Twist are four best friends who live in a magical Toyland. They have their own band and they love to sing and dance. They go to a music school and besides their love for music, they like helping people who are in trouble. Every episode of this series deals with a different problem.

They play a song at the start of the day singing about the problem to come. They

work their way through these problems together, and when they pass, they play a song giving out the solution to their problem. The other people in the Toyland also join them in their celebrations, and so can you! Help them solve these problems and dance along with them.

You can watch this show on Nick Jr or you can catch the episodes online.

Toy

We’ve all played with LEGOs at some point in our lives. Now, there is a video game made about these toys, and it’s based on the movie you’ve watched. The LEGO Movie Videogame came out on February 07.The story is so exciting that it will be fun for just about anybody. It starts off with a regular toy figure named Emmett who is pushed into fighting against a big, bad businessman. Hints and directions are provided by the

game settings but there are parts of the game you’ll have to figure out. The thrill is what will keep you going! You can find the game in any video store like Fahim’s or download it online. The game will work on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 and 4, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and Microsoft Windows (PC).Whether you’ve watched the movie or played with LEGOs, you are still bound to enjoy and understand the video game!

We often get scolded by our parents be-cause they think that playing games is a waste of time. Well what if you could play a game where you learnt a lot and at the same time had tons of fun? In this way, you would be able to keep yourself and your parents happy.

We have all grown up with the idea that bricks can only build houses. However, this is not how it is here, as we bring you to “Brick Burst,” a board game made to shape up your math skills. The game has 48 dif-

ferent coloured bricks with a bonus brick included, one coloured die, one numbered die, and two pushing sticks along(one for each player) with directions. Match the colour on the coloured die to the multiple of the number of a numbered die on your opponent’s side. The player with the least points on his/her side wins.

Brick Burst is priced around Tk3,200 and is available at Lavender. Lose yourself in the jumbled world of bricks.

• Sharks do not have bones like us; their skeleton is made up of a soft and easily bent stuff called cartilage.

• Armadillos are mammals that can walk underwater.

• A camel’s hump is not filled with water. It actually has fat that gives the camel energy when they run out of food.

• Snails are able to sleep for three years without eating.

• Naturally blue foods are very rare.• The Hawaiian alphabet consists of

only 13 letters.• A regular golf ball has 336 dimples

on it.• You might only take a few minutes to

finish your food, but your body takes

about 12 hours to completely digest the food you eat.

• Butterflies need to stand on top of their food to taste them, as their taste receptors are situated on the bottom part of their feet.

The small red eyes were full of fear. When the cage door opened, the small white fur ball hurried to a corner. It tried its best to avoid my hand, which was the size of its whole body, when I tried to get it out.

He became stiff with fear once I held him. I could actually feel its little heart drumming furiously. Oh, how scared the baby bunny was when we first met at a pet shop in Katabon. I named him “Frosty,” my darling pet rabbit. I felt so bad that I never bought a cage for him. I fell in love with him the first time I held

him, and he loved me ever since I gave him a carrot! He would follow me around all day like a perfect devotee and would sit in a corner and be miserable when I went out. He was unlike any other rabbit as he seemed to understand commands.

He was so adorable that even my not-so-fond-of -animals mother made him tiny socks in winter! He was the smartest, cutest and most mischievous rabbit you would ever come across. Frosty was a ball of white joy! Nushaira rahmaN

What happens when you stir salt into a glass of water? It vanishes! This is a mixture. The salt particles are so tiny that they vanish into the water, but they’re still there. Have a taste! But is it possible to separate the salt back from the water again? No? Yes!

Things needed• Any dark pot that can be heated.• A glass of water• 6-8 teaspoons of salt

Instructions• Dissolve the salt into water,

stirring thoroughly.• Pour this mixture into the

container and heat it on the stove. Get help from a grown-up.

• Wait until all the water disappears from the container!

What happens Gradually the water vanishes and at the bottom of the pot, you will see salt! So what happened? When you heat the pot, the water warms up. When water molecules heat up, they start to shake more because of the increasing heat until they jump out of the water and into the air, turning into water vapour. This is called evaporation. The water evaporates, but the salt stays behind.Another process for this can be done under the heat from sunlight. On a warm sunny day, leave your container outside and tada!
