It was created by the Oklahoma Blood Institute, and its use is being licensed to Community Blood Center of the Ozarks. How does it work? Hospital staff helping spread the word about what Thank-The-Donor™ is and how it works is a key element in empowering people to say thank you to blood donors. To send a message of thanks, go to https://thankthedonor.org and follow the instructions. The unit number is required to successfully send a message. If asked, please help the patient locate it on the blood bag and record it. Messages can ONLY be sent to donors who gave with Community Blood Center of the Ozarks. ALL unit numbers from Community Blood Center of the Ozarks start with. ALL messages sent from patients and their loved ones go to Community Blood Center of the Ozarks BEFORE being forwarded to the blood donor. ALL messages are vetted to ensure that NO PATIENT IDENTIFYING INFORMATION is included. Any such information is redacted before the message is forwarded to the blood donor. Those sending messages WILL NOT be able to learn the identity of the blood donors AND blood donors WILL NOT be able to learn the identity of the blood recipient. CBCO has provided posters, information cards, and other collateral to your hospitals to help raise awareness about Thank-The-Donor™. All materials have been approved by your hospital.
