Introduction My name is Steve Trow and I have been making a fulltime living from trading and betting for over 5 years. I am also a self confessed workaholic who doesn’t need to run any websites or write ebooks, but I genuinely enjoying putting together great information that can be of benefit to others. Tip 1 Emotional Betting This is a basic rule and one which you should always stick to. You should not even think about going anywhere near a gambling site if you’re ever in a highly emotional state, be it that you’ve just had an argument with your partner, or you’ve rolled in from a night out and you’re drunk. The drunk one is fairly selfexplanatory; we make poor decisions/choices when drunk. However the emotional state of mind is the one I’ll expand on. If you’ve just had the biggest argument of your life with your partner and then realised that the Champions League is starting so you’re going to have a bet or a trade, STOP. You should not go onto any gambling site in these circumstances, being emotional can lead you to trying to take you aggression and annoyance out in the markets and that can lead to overstaking, taking unnecessary risks and generally being reckless. You’re trying to trigger the endorphins in your brain and give yourself a little reward when you’re feeling bad. Go for a walk, take the dog out, go to the pub. Whatever you decide to do, do not start gambling or trading. You’ll save lots of money each year by following eliminating this bad habit!

Tip 2 Record Keeping This is a very important part of being profitable at betting or trading but it’s also amazing how many people fail to keep records. It’s essential. If you don’t accurately know how you’ve been performing and in which areas you’ve been making money and which areas you’ve been losing money, then how can you reasonably expect to improve. I keep logs of every trade that I get involved with, it can be a little time consuming but it’s worth every minute. Having a full record of my bets allows me to pinpoint where I should be focussing my efforts. I like to keep things simple as much as possible though, so I use acronyms as much as possible. Whatever shorthand works for you, is right for you. For example, when I’m recording a matched betting bet on an Arsenal v Liverpool match which sees me placing a £20 bet before kickoff and then a £10 bet inplay, I record this as “PETI 20/10 Ars v Liv” As you can see, all the relevant information is there PETI Preevent, Then InPlay. For trades, record the following information:

Tip 3 Your Bankroll Identify what you’re bankroll amount will be and keep that money separate from everything. Ringfence That money should be used for betting and trading alone, it shouldn’t be money that you need to pay for the mortgage or the weekly shopping. In time, the bankroll could develop into something pays for those things but at the start it should be for betting and betting alone. Risk Never risk more than 2% of your bankroll on any single stake. Simple rule, stick to it! If you over stake, then you’re going to go bust when you hit a bad run. Bet sensibly and you’re going to stay in the game. Profit Targets You should be looking at getting some rewards from your betting an trading, so here’s a handy little way to grow your bank. Let’s say you start with a £1,000 betting bank, well when you’ve increased it by 50%, you should be taking 50% of the profits out whilst also allowing your betting bank to grow Withdrawal 1 Starting Balance = £1,000 Profits = £500 Withdrawal = £250 (50% of the £500 profit) Closing Balance =£1,250 Withdrawal 2 Starting Balance = £1,250 Profits = £625 Withdrawal = £312.50 (50% of the £625 profit) Closing Balance =£1,562.50 As you can see you’re getting some nice money to spend on nice things and your bankroll is also growing along the way too.

Tip 4 Keep Your Money Fluid When betting and trading online it’s important to keep your money flowing around as quickly, smoothly and securely as possible. If you make a withdrawal from a bookie into your bank account whether by bank transfer or via a debit card withdrawal you’re going to be waiting 2 to 5 days for the money to get back to your account. If you’re waiting on that money to make a deposit at another bookmaker to take advantage of a particular offer then you’re going to miss out on opportunities to make easy money. I use online accounts to move my money around quickly and securely. For example, let’s say I want to withdraw from Paddy Power:
Debit card withdrawal = 2 to 4 working days(no fee) Skrill or Neteller withdrawal = 1 to 4 hours (no fee)
It’s a no brainer really, I much prefer having my money within 4 hours than within 4 working days. It’s my money and I want it now. There are 2 online accounts I recommend, Skrill and Neteller. They’re both very safe and secure, Skrill used to be known as Moneybookers for many years. They operate in exactly the same way as PayPal and are available payment/withdrawal methods at 99% of online gambling establishments. I do not recommend PayPal as they very often charge you fees for depositing and sometimes to withdraw. Skrill and Neteller are always fee free. Finally I also recommend that you get hold of a prepaid Mastercard if you want to keep your bank account clean and from from the dozens of transactions moving in and out each month. Tip 5 Make Your Life Easier Make the technology work for you. We’re all busy and generally speaking most people seem to be time poor, so use some of the great inventions out there to make your life a little easier. Here’s some of the things I do:
I have a free account at Flashscores and it syncs football matches I’ve starred to all my devices simultaneously
I use Google Chrome and I’m signed into Chrome on all my devices which allows me to pick the same bookmarks up on my phone, tablet, laptop and desktop pc
I have my name, address, phone number and debit card details stored Google Chrome’s autofill section in the settings which saves me time when registering at new sites
I have secured and synschronised ALL of my passwords across ALL of my devices using LastPass Premium.
If you only do one item from the list above then I recommend that it’s join Last Pass Premium. It only costs £8 per year and it means that I only need to remember 1 password to access all of my sites. If you’re using a device which has fingerprint recognition then you can set your fingerprint as your password to log in. If you add up the time it takes to type in usernames, emails and paswords then this £8 is saving me hours and hours per year. Time which I put to better use! Tip 6 Minimise Your Costs Whether you’re matched betting, trading or just having a gamble you’re going to want to use a betting exchange to do this. Exchanges are essential for matched betting and trading and they’re better for some straight bets due to their inflated odds. Betting exchanges make their money from charging a commission on winnings. Betfair is the number 1 betting exchange in the world and they charge 5% commission. There are alternatives and I use Smarkets for 90% of my matched betting nowadays as they only charge 2% commission. There is plenty of liquidty on big matches an horse races and it’s getting better every single week. If you click the image below then you will get access to a £10 NO LOSE BET. Tip 7 Guaranteed Profits If you haven’t tried matched betting then you are missing out on some of the easiest money you will ever make. Tip 8 Trusted Reviews Whilst making £1,000 a month from matched betting is great fun, it’s also a good idea to start looking to build up a small portfolio of products. With the sheer amount of betting products out there you need to know where to find them. That’s where betting review sites come in. There are dozens of review sites out there but not all of them are legitimate and to be trusted. Most tipsters operate an affiliate scheme which means if a visitor clicks a link on the review site and buys a service then the reviewer earns a commission. There is nothing wrong with that, after all f a reviewer has spent 3 months of their time reviewing a product which turns out to be good, then they deserve to earn the odd £10 here or there. The problem comes when sites start putting in positive reviews of subpar betting systems just in order to earn a commission. This is partly what led me to start Bets For Today.
