AFTER Election Day where you can

update your school board and/or referendum results.

School boards must canvass election results between November 7-14Because of changes in the election law, school boards can no longer canvass election results on

the night of the election. Boards must now canvass results between the third and tenth days after the election (M.S. 205A.10, Subd. 3). Please note that Veterans Day falls in that time period and is considered a holiday by the state, preventing public business from being conducted on November 11 (M.S. 645.44, Subd. 5). This forces boards to canvass from November 7-10 or November 12-14. If you do not have a regularly scheduled meeting for these dates, you must make sure to post a special meeting notice three days before you meet to canvass.

School board election resultsMSBA is requesting your district office use the following steps to report

the results of your local school board election:■ AFTER your election results have been canvassed, log in at

www.mnmsba.org and click on the “Election/Referenda Results” icon.■ Follow the instructions to enter new board members. Please provide

an accurate and complete address. Also indicate which current boardmembers were re-elected or who will be leaving your board.

■ In order to facilitate future meeting registrations, we ask that youcomplete this process as soon as possible after the election.

School district referendum resultsSchool districts with referendums can report those results to Greg

Abbott at [email protected] or 800-324-4459. Contact the MSBA office at 800-324-4459 if you have any questions. Thank you in advance for your prompt response.

After Election Day: Please report board election, referendum results to MSBA
