Course Description

Professor Juha Hernesniemi, Professor Vinko Dolenc (Ljubljana, Slovenia), Professor Ali F. Krisht MD (Little Rock, Arkansas) and Professor Ugur Türe MD (Istanbul, Turkey) along with senior, junior and nursing staff will demonstrate different approaches and microsurgical techniques in live operations in various lesions (aneurysms, AVMs, cavernomas, extrinsic and intrinsic tumors and spine surgery). Helsinki Neurosurgery has more than 3 200 annual operations in four ORs. More information on the department on www.hus.fi/neurosurgery.

To celebrate the 10th Live Course in Microsurgery, the course will start with Jubilee Lectures on Sunday June 6. The Jubilee Lectures will take place in lecture hall 1 in Töölö Hospital at 2 - 6 pm.

There will be 6-8 operations per day during the course, i.e. 25 - 30 operations altogether in three OR’s. Professors will discuss the cases and present microsurgical videos between and after operations. The operative schedules runs every day from 8 am to approximately 6 pm. Lunch is served at the Hospital Staff Restaurant daily 3 pm. The Course Dinner is taking place on Tuesday June 8.

Fifty (50) neurosurgeons and / or neurosurgery residents can be accommodated for the course. The course fee is 1 464 Euros (incl. VAT 22 %). Deadline for the registration is April 23, 2010.

Important Course InformationCase presentations will be handed out on CD to all participants. Publications on clinical experiences by the Spe-cial Guests and the Helsinki staff will also be handed out during the course.

Selected papers by the participants can be presented during the course, and the participants are encouraged to present their work. Please contact Ms. Tarja Rinne in advance in order to arrange with the presentation.
