The Association hosted its 21st Annual Golf Tournament on June 20 at Joint Base Andrews. This is the third year we have used both courses for the tournament. I would like to thank our Golf Tourna- ment Committee Chairman, Mr. Jack Taylor, Co- Chairman MSgt Charles Montgomery, the Board members, and everyone that assisted in orga- nizing and conducting this successful event. Also, a special thanks to all of our sponsors and entrants for their generous support of the Associa- tion. A full article on the Golf Tournament appears in the newsletter on (page 5). As typically follows the golf tournament, the combined WHCA Open House and 1600 Communications Association Shrimp Feast was held on June 21. A recap of the event appears on page 3. Many thanks to Glenn Arnett, Floyd Hepler, Helen Pennington, Sarah Olo, Tanika Hart, and Nick Young for their hard work and dedication in planning and execut- ing the event on behalf of the Association. SSgt Shatoria Christian, PS1 Krystal Stillman, and their WHCA Open House Committee did an ex- cellent job coordinating the WHCA portion of the event and providing access to the WHCA compound. Again, a special thanks to all for their outstanding support and professionalism! I would also like to thank the members of our Scholarship Committee, Gordon Aitken, Bill Bogart, and George Bafundo for spending countless hours reviewing applications before making their final selections. (See page 2 for a list of recipients.) Congratulations to all who have been awarded scholarships this year! Our next event is the 24th annual Camp David Chapter Picnic, which will be held on Saturday, September 6th. Please mark your calendars and join us for another outstanding and fun-filled event. The event flyer is enclosed and can be downloaded at www.1600commassoc.org. If you have not been to this picnic, please come on out and spend a beautiful late summer day reminiscing with other 1600 members in the Cascade Mountains near Thurmont!
