Technique Tour
1, China Experimental Fast Reactor
Visit time:April 10, 2016 website: http://www.ciae.ac.cn/
The China Experimental Fast Reactor (CEFR), located in China Institute of
Atomic Energy, is the first Fast Reactor built in China with 65MW thermal
power and 20MW experimental generation power. Reactor core pool
type structure and Sodium-Sodium-Water circuit heat removal system is
applied for the first furnace, and UO2 is adopted for initial fuel.
The fast reactor system have a fast neutron spectrum, with the resulting
benefit of enhancing the utilization of uranium resources(utilization
ratio up to 60% from 1% of PWR)through breeding and fuel cycle. And
the fast reactor system can transmute the long life fission products and
consume transuranics with a closed fuel cycle, thus reducing the
radiotoxicity and heat load which facilitates waste disposal and geologic
isolation.
2, High Temperature Gas Cooled Reactor
Visit time:April 10, 2016 website:http://www.inet.tsinghua.edu.cn/
The 10MW High Temperature Gas-cooled reactor-test Module (HTR-10)
is a graphite-moderated helium gas-cooled reactor and it is the first
- 12 -
gas-cooled reactor in China.
In the design of HTR-10, advanced concept of newly developed modular
high temperature reactors is assimilated. Its design features a compact
side-by-side arrangement of the reactor core and the steam generator,
spherical fuel elements (6cm in diameter) with TRISO coated particles,
continuous process of fuel loading and unloading, all-around
computerized protection system and in-depth defense principles. A
completely passive decay heat removal system and a surface cooling
system are designed for HTR-10. Two reactor shutdown systems the
control rod system and the small absorber ball system, which make
possible the automatic shutdown of the reactor under emergency
conditions, are located in the reactor side reflector.
3, Sanmen Nuclear Power Plant
Visit time:April 10 to 11, 2016
website:http://www.cnecc.com/g670/s1008/t9673.aspx
Sanmen NPP is the first plant in the world that applies the most
advanced GenerationⅢ pressurized water reactor (AP1000) officially
approved by the State Council. The plant is located in a peninsula of
Jiantiao Town in Sanmen County, Taizhou city of Zhejiang province. Six
units, each with 1000MWe capacity, were planned, two units for Phase
Ⅰproject. Sanmen NPP PhaseⅠis the first self-reliant Generation Ⅲ
NPP project in China and Unit one is the first AP1000 nuclear power unit
- 13 -
around the world.
Compared with traditional PWR, the prominent characteristic of AP1000
is to reduce potential accidents under design condition by passive safety
system so that the safety of the NPP will be greatly improved.
4,Taishan Nuclear Power Plant
Visit time:April 10 to 11, 2016 website: http://www.tnpjvc.com.cn/
Taishan Nuclear Power Plant is located in Taishan city, Guangdong
province, China. Two units are constructed for Phase I project with each
a single-unit capacity of 1750MW. The unit is CEPR (Chinese EPR), a
Chinese brand of nuclear power unit developed based on third
generation European Pressurized Reactor technology (EPR) with
Sino-French joint efforts in design and construction. The construction
period of a unit is 52 months.
After the completion of Phase I project, the consumption of standard
coal can reduce about 8.48 million tons a year, and the emissions of
greenhouse gases can reduce more than 20.85 million tons.
