Innovation and Collaboration Intersect
Bre Begemann is President and Chief Opera ng Offi cer at Monsanto. He oversees commercial, manufacturing, and supply chain opera ons in row crops, vegetables, and crop protec on with the aim of accelera ng Monsanto’s growth poten al around the
world. He is focused on enhancing global coordina on, growth, and opera onal effi ciencies across the company, including increasing manufacturing and supply-chain effi ciency, ensuring a strong strategic linkage between crop protec on and seeds and traits, and ensuring the commercial development of the company’s next-genera on of growth drivers. These drivers include growth opportuni es in the company’s established markets, new markets like Eastern Europe, China, and La n America, as well as through the next wave of agriculture innova ons in precision agriculture and ag biologicals. Mr. Begemann grew up on a diversifi ed grain and livestock farm in the United States. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia with a B.S. degree in agricultural economics. He joined the former Monsanto Company in 1983 as a sales representa ve in Minnesota.
Mr. Begemann currently serves on the Board of Directors at Eastman Chemical and is the Vice Chair of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce-affi liated Brazil-U.S. Business Council. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center and a member of the Vice Chancellor’s Leadership Council at the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Morning Program Speakers
Kevin Haar is President & Chief Executive Offi cer at Appistry, responsible for the vision, strategy, and leadership of Appistry. He believes his greatest responsibility is building a team that can successfully execute Appistry’s commitment to helping businesses solve complex, data-intensive problems. He has more than 25 years of
experience in building teams for rapid growth organizations – representing thousands of employees across several companies with distinct corporate cultures. His family values fuel his passion for building businesses and establishing corporate cultures that align with his employees’ fi nancial and personal objectives. Prior to Appistry, Mr. Haar spent 17 years at Rational Software serving in several strategic positions including Senior Vice President of Worldwide Field Operations. He played an integral role in transforming the company from a software startup into an industry powerhouse with more than $800 million in annual revenues – resulting in a $2.1 billion acquisition by IBM. Mr. Haar held several management positions at HP before joining Rational. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration from Washington University in St. Louis.
Dr. Scott Miller is a Senior Adviser at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, D.C. In August 2012 he was appointed to the William M. Scholl Chair in International Business. Mr. Miller has led many campaigns supporting U.S. free trade agreements, and as a member of numerous business
associations, he has been a key contributor to international trade and investment policy. He advised the U.S. government as liaison to the U.S. Trade Representative’s Advisory Committee on Trade Policy and Negotiations, as well as the State Department’s Advisory Committee on International Economic Policy. Mr. Miller was the founding chairman of the Department of Commerce’s Industry Trade Advisory Committee (ITAC) Investment Working Group. Prior to CSIS he was Director for Global Trade Policy at Procter & Gamble where he also worked earlier in his career as a manufacturing, marketing, and government relations executive for the United States and Canada. He holds a B.A. from Ohio Northern University and an M.A. from the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning.
Rachel Snow, B.A, D.Sc., is Chief of the Population and Development Branch of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in New York. Dr. Snow has been conducting research around the globe for over 25 years. Trained as a population scientist and reproductive biologist, her international
research career started in China and proceeded to India, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Pakistan. For the past 15 years, she has concentrated on Africa, including Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Uganda, Ghana, and South Africa. She received her doctorate in Population Sciences from the Harvard School of Public Health in 1988, where she was a MacArthur Fellow in Population and Development Studies and Assistant Professor in Population and International Health. From 1997-2003 she taught at the University of Heidelberg. In 2003 she joined the tenured faculty at the University of Michigan School of Public Health and the Michigan Center for Population Studies. Dr. Snow was recently the lead author of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) 20-year review of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD Beyond 2014). UNFPA is the lead UN agency expanding the possibilities for women and young people to lead healthy and productive lives.
Mark Kwapiszeski is Group Executive and Business Information Offi cer, Emerging Payments, for MasterCard Operations & Technology (O&T). In this role, he is responsible for technical delivery of MasterCard’s emerging payment platforms. These platforms include: MasterPass, MasterCard Digital Enablement Service,
MasterCard Send™, and MasterCard Open API. Mark and his team recently won the Gateway to Innovation award for their work on MasterCard’s Digital Enablement Service. Prior to his current role, Mr. Kwapiszeski worked in a number of diff erent management positions within MasterCard, including the Emerging Payments team and the Enterprise Architecture team. Before that, he performed technical due diligence on third-parties with the Enterprise Architecture team to support potential mergers, acquisitions, investments, joint ventures and other third-party relationships. Mr. Kwapiszeski began his career at MasterCard as an undergraduate intern for the Internal Audit team. Upon graduation, he accepted a full-time position as a staff auditor, before moving on to the Data Architecture team. He graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics from Saint Louis University. He is an active volunteer for Junior Achievement of Greater St. Louis, as well as for the Boy Scouts of America.
