FOREWORD

The denior Class of 1947 is graduating inthe most momentous post-war period in history.It is a time when the world seems to bs repair-ing its berings, emerging out of a state of un-rest an, uncertainty, having arrived at the de-cision that the most important thing in life ispeace an^. pleasant working conditions betweennations and between individuals.

Four years in this school have been spentin preparation for the vast university of ex-perience. It has been the aim and desire of thefaculty and the administration to implant Intotheir minds and hearts those ideals which leadto a deeper understanding of life and a greaterappreciation of service to humanity. It is hopedthat the characters of these students hove beenso nurtured and developed that they will go cutand make the world better by their having lived.They are facing such a future as has never beforebeen known in history, and the challenge ofservice beckons them on every side.

The Board of education, the community andthe facutly charge these boys and girls to bestrong, and to quit themselves like men; and theychallenge them to unfaltering loyalty, to truth,honesty, justice end to whatsoever things are ofgood report, hay God bless them, and may theyq:o forth as heralds of Peace and Goodwill.

Everyone was eager to get started to workfor tieir Junior-Senior banquet, as it was taefirst experience of a banqudt for most of thepupils. They worked enough so as to i.ave t„ebanquet go over with a bang. The banquet wasgiven at Grogan's Tourist Court.

Our class has been very useful in takingpart in athletics tuls ,T ear. Taking part fromtne eleventh grade were: Margaret Red Martin,Viola Case, Mackie Martin, Jo Alice Joyces, DonnyMontgomery, Glenn Reddick, Jail Robertson, RayMartin, and Ralph Anderson.
