Pastor’s Paragraphs
I hate to see summer coming to an end but we have an exciting fall to look forward to. We have several Bible study
groups that will be starting up. We hope that you will find one that fits into your schedule and fits your interests.
Carol and I will be starting one on Sunday evenings at 6:00. It will be an overview of the important chapters of the
Bible but you will only have to read one chapter each week.
Our first meeting will be Sept 17th and we will be studying the book of Genesis for nine weeks.
We will begin with a light meal at 6:00 and then Bible study will start at 7. Please sign up by Sept 10th.
Creation — Genesis 1
The Fall (Adam and Eve) — Genesis 3
Noah and the Flood — Genesis 6
The Tower of Babel — Genesis 11
The Call of Abram — Genesis 12
God makes promises to Abraham — Genesis 15
Jacob and Esau — Genesis 25
Joseph sold by his brothers — Genesis 37
Joseph in Egypt — Genesis 39
Why Should We Study the Bible?
Because God wrote it, specifically for us.
Because God is all knowing so we can trust what He has to say.
Because God loves us and cares for us.
The Bible tells us God’s plan for our lives so we realize that He is worth following.
Pastor Trevor
Many of us have accepted the “Parable of Talents Challenge” (based on Matthew 25: 14-30) and are already thinking of
creative ways to grow the $5 seed money to benefit the Missions of the Church. To assist those interested in multiplying
their “five talents”, RUMC will be setting up a booth in front of the church on Labor Day, Monday, September 4th from 10
a.m. to 4 p.m. The Peach Festival parades will bring many people right to our doorstep and the hope is that members of
our community will be thankful for the opportunity to purchase our items. Those interested in donating items for sale or
helping man the tables should contact Linda Schenburn by Sunday, August 27th. The challenge ends on October 15th,
when we’ll return both principal and profit to advance God’s work in a way that is pleasing to Him. May we be worthy of
hearing, “Well done, good and faithful servant!” (Matthew 25:21 and 23).

will decline requests for pastoral
service on behalf of the Romeo United

The friends and family of RUMC
pray God’s peace be with Beth
Theisen and family. Beth’s
mother, Barbara Hudson, passed
away August 5, 2017. You are in
our prayers.
D.E.L.T.A. had a great time at its annual Faris House
Party. We had great weather and great food, and enjoyed
swimming in the pond.
The Psalm Bible Study has been meeting on Thursday's
at 6pm. It has been very interesting to exam the Psalms
and talk about how they relate to us. We will be finishing
the study up as summer comes to an end.
NOTICE: D.E.L.T.A. will be moving to Wednesday nights!
The time of 7-9pm will remain the same. We hope that
this change will work better with everyone's schedules!
This change will take place for kick-off this year in
September.
Thank you!

be handing out “Menus” with scripture related to various
prayer concerns. We are actually going to be using
Mondays from 4-6pm for our regular time slot, starting
September 11. If you would like to participate in this spirit
filled service, contact Linda Klusendorf: 586 484 1018

Dear Friends,
You’ve seen the ads on TV…Sponsor a child or family
overseas. But poverty - even hunger - exist in
Northwestern Macomb County. More than 15% o
rural households are food-insecure, according to the
U.S. Department of Agriculture. That’s a higher rate
of hunger than cities and suburban areas.
Samaritan House exists to mobilize the resources so
that those families going hungry at home can be fed.
Last year alone, we fed 4,984 residents of our
community. For every $2 invested in Samaritan
House, we secure a meal for a family member living
in poverty.
Now you can join us in our work and be a “Hunger
Hero” by sponsoring a food-insecure child, senior
citizen, or family. Your tax-deductible gift will
enable Samaritan House to provide food-insecure
residents of our community with healthy, nutritious
meals. By additionally making your gift sustainable,
you will furnish a child, senior citizen, or family at
risk of going hungry with meals to last one full year.
To become a “Hunger Hero” today or for more
information, visit our website at
http://www.samaritanhousemichigan.org/be-a-
hunger-hero or call (586) 336-9956.
We look forward to fighting hunger with you by our
side.

Dear Friends, Turning Point Inc. is a nonprofit organization that provides a free 24 hour shelter, personal protection orders and legal advocacy, sexual assault services, free confidential counseling, safety planning and much more. It is our mission is to provide programs and resources to victim/survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault that enable them to regain control of their lives. This year marks the 10
th Anniversary of Tara’s Walk, a
fundraiser started by the family of Tara Grant after she was murdered and dismembered by her husband in 2010. The heinous crime took place in Washington Twp., MI, where her body was found in the garage in plastic storage containers. It is our goal to make this the biggest year ever! We would like to achieve recruiting at least a thousand walkers. Please join us in showing Tara’s family that their goal to help stamp out domestic violence and save other families from the heart ache and pain they have endured has not been in vain. Tara’s life and death were not in vain, she is a hero in the fight against domestic violence. Together we can make a difference!
