The 2020 Ashtabula County Fair - Junior Livestock Exhibition and Junior Fair Projects Only The Ashtabula County Agricultural Society Board of Directors appreciates your understanding during these difficult times as we proceed with only a modified Junior Livestock Exhibition and Junior Fair project events. A modified Junior Fair will be held August 11 - 15 with 4-H and FFA youth exhibitors participating in projects and shows. Only immediate family members of the exhibitor may attend. The 2020 Ashtabula County Fair - Junior Livestock Exhibition and Junior Fair Projects Only

The Ashtabula County Agricultural Society Board of Directors appreciates your understanding during these difficult times as we proceed with only a modified Junior Livestock Exhibition and Junior Fair project events.

All additional special programs and events such as Super Showman, Kids’ Games, the Talent Show and the Dance are postponed to 2021.

• Per the health order from Gov. DeWine, effective July 23, 2020 at 6 p.m., masks are required to be worn inOhio. This applies to all 4-H and Jr. Fair activities in indoor spaces and outdoor spaces where individualsgather and cannot maintain physical distancing of at least 6 feet between each person. All participants areexpected to follow the Responsible Restart Ohio Guidelines and Expectations for County Fairs athttps://coronavirus.ohio.gov/static/responsible/County-Fairs.pdf

• All participants and family members must follow good hygiene including washing hands frequently, usinghand sanitizer, and coughing into a sleeve.

• Individuals should perform a daily health assessment and stay home if they have a fever, cough, or othersigns of possible COVID-19. Temperatures will be taken at the gate and a wristband given. All Jr. Fairparticipants MUST have their temperature checked. Those with a temperature of 100.4 or greater will notbe permitted. Those camping will have temperatures taken daily.

• All participants showing and spectators in indoor arenas MUST wear a mask.• All barns, bathrooms and high-contact areas will be sanitized regularly according to Health Department

guidelines.• Sheriff Deputies will be onsite to assist with enforcement.

Fair is not a requirement. If you or your family are uncomfortable attending – please stay home. 2

• Before Fair: • Electronic Drug Use Notification Forms (DUNFs) will be used for all market and lactating dairy animals.

Click here to access the form prior to arriving at Fair: 2020 Ashtabula County DUNF Form or visit go.osu.edu/ashtabuladunf Forms must be complete by 10:00 p.m. the evening the animal arrives.

• Parent meeting attendance has been waived for 2020. • Bring your own hay, shovels, wheel barrels and supplies for the day. Be mindful of heat and use

appropriate animal carriers. No cardboard boxes or totes. Fans may be brought and hung at the direction of the Fair Board Superintendent.

• Health papers are REQUIRED per the Fair Vet for ALL non-market animals excluding poultry, rabbits and cavies. All fancy/exhibition poultry spending the night at Fair, must be seen by the Species Chairs prior to arriving at Fair.

• Youth must show their own project animals. Youth are expected to care for, feed and water their own animals over the three days and following the Sale.

• There shall be no congregating in the barns. Only one parent/guardian per youth/project is permitted in the animal barns.

• There will be no barn judging or one-on-one judging of any kind. Judges will be asked to maintain 6-feet physical distancing. Show barns and animal barns may be cleared at anytime to establish physical distancing.

• There will be no Milking Parlor.

• There will be no Grand or Reserve Project Awards given and no Class Medallions. Best of Class and Reserve Best of Class Awards will be given. No showmanship classes will be held.

• Ribbons and Awards will be distributed upon exiting the ring.

• There shall be no posters or decorations of any kind. Jr. Fair and Animal Signs will be available outside the Jr. Fair Office to be hung.

• Youth shall only be on the grounds to care for animals and participate in shows.

• Camping will be limited to one camper per 4-H family, Volunteer and Fair Board Director with a need to stay on site. Families with equine projects will camp on the west side of the grounds and animal projects on the east side. No pop-up tents allowed in the camping area. See the Camping Permit Application for more information. According to the Governor’s orders, there is a mandatory 10:00 p.m. curfew.

• There will be no club gatherings or meals. No community cooking or grilling, no crockpots. Absolutely no food sharing. There will be no food allowed in the buildings.

• 10’ x 10’ family spaces/pop-up tents will be permitted in designated spaces per the Fair Board behind the milkshake booth or outside the MAC Barn. This space is to be used when not showing. There will be no fee for tents.

• Please abide by physical distancing expectations and be mindful of one-way traffic patterns.

• Bleachers will be closed. Spectators may bring lawn chairs to enjoy shows of their immediate family members. Barns will be cleared of spectators in between shows/classes.

• Sanitation stations will be located at the end and in the middle of each barn.

• The Holstein Booth and a Concessions Trailer will be open on both side of the fairgrounds with food for purchase.

o All animals will be sold in the following order: Best of Show, Reserve Best of Show, and Top Ten, followed by random lottery as determined by the Sale Manager.

o Sale Order according to the 2020 MAC Guidelines: Cheese, Rabbits, Goats, Turkeys, Chickens, Ducks, Dairy Steers, Beef Feeders, Lambs, Hogs, Dairy Beef Feeders, Beef Steers. Carcass animals will be sold in each species after the non-carcass animals of that species have been sold.

o Buyers will be allowed to walk through the barns prior to the Sale permitted they are wearing a mask and following physical distancing expectations.

o Buyers who are interested in purchasing an animal but are not able or are unwilling to attend the sale, may submit a bid by proxy. Please contact a member of the Fair Board to submit a bid at 440-536-1473 / 440-812-0226 / 440-813-3656.

o Buyers gifts and certificates will be picked up at check out and thank you cards mailed by the youth following the sale. Youth are encouraged to send a picture of themselves with their project animal to their buyer.

o There will be no animal pictures taken. o Best of Show Sale pictures will be taken in front of the grandstands on the track maintaining

physical distancing.o No animals will walk through the Sale. All youth are expected to have a poster highlighting their

project for the Sale. The poster shall highlight the details of their project and include a picture of the animal.

o Checks will be distributed between 10 a.m. and Noon on Saturday, August 22 via vehicle drive through at the milking parlor. Checks will only be distributed to those that have cleaned their pen throughout the week prior and come with a pre-stamped thank you to send.

• Working from trailers will be permitted ONLY for non-market animals. Areas will be designated behind the goat barn for parking. Tack boxes are NOT permitted for non-equine projects.

• Additional vehicles shall be parked on the west-side of the grounds. • All animals will be stalled where they typically have been, with the exception of market steers,

beef breeding and beef feeders, which will be in the east pole barn. All animals will be spaced out farther.

• Barn doors shall be left open to allow for proper ventilation. • ONLY Poultry, Rabbit and Guinea Pig exhibitors will be permitted to park behind the Milking

Parlor the day of the show to exhibit from the vehicle. No tents will be permitted in the area. • Market animals will haul out Sunday/Monday per the processor. Beef and Dairy Beef Feeders

may leave after the Sale. All other non-animals must leave after their last class. • Youth are expected to care for, feed and water their own animals over the three days and

following the Sale. • Contact a Species Chair or Fair Board Superintendent with any questions.

Beef Show 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 14, 2020Show order will be as follows:

• No fitting of animals for show – only wash and blow your animal dry.• No tack boxes.• Small tote for feed, bucket with wash supplies, hay.• Chute may be brought if needed to dry your animal.• Each family needs to bring their own manure fork/shovel – no sharing of tools.• Wheelbarrow can be shared amongst a club as long as there is a canister of disinfectant wipes

attached to the wheelbarrow so that the handles can be wiped down after use. Families can bring their own wheelbarrow if they wish.

• No hanging fans will be allowed. Bring a fan on a stand if you wish.• No dividers will be used.• Each member should have a scotch comb, number harness, show halter and show stick for

show day.• The only spectators allowed are the immediate family members of those in the ring during that

class. • No decorations.• Mulch will be donated by Bob Brobst this year.• Market animals will be in a pen, non-market animals (beef breeding) that are there for the day

may work off their trailer. Non-market animals (beef breeding) are to leave following the conclusion of the beef show.

• Generators allowed on show day only per MAC guidelines.• Market projects – make a poster board sign to bring to the sale. Animals will not leave the barn

on sale day. Rope halters will NOT be returned following the Sale.
