The 2020 LGA Times FINAL EDITION

October 1, 2020 The concluding day of organized play for the 2020 LGA golf season was Tuesday, September 29, 2020 in glorious sunshine. At least 64 18 hole and 9 hole players took advantage of the day. Thanks to all who participated this year.

Red & Blue Tournament Results Red Team – 6.5 Blue Team – 8.5

Blue Team 18 hole players will each receive $50.00 credit at the Golf Shop. Blue Team 9 hole players will each receive $25.00 credit at the Golf Shop.

The annual business meeting of the LGA was held Thursday, October 1, 2020 with a cocktail party and delicious luncheon at The Country Club

Additional LGA members attended the business meeting via Zoom. Haley Sturgeon administered the Zoom presentation and did a great

job. Thanks Haley for this and everything you have done this golf season. A video slide show ran in the dining room for view displaying all of the hard work and effort expended by Sue Ann and Jack Walker during the golf season. It was appreciated by all who saw it. Sue Ann and Jack Walker are happy to announce that it will be available for additional viewing on the Club website. A link will be emailed to all LGA members which will allow access to the video. We had the pleasure of the company of Peter Billings, newly elected President of the Country Club Board, who gave us some interesting information regarding his goals during his term as President. Thank you Peter for spending time with the LGA. Winners of the various Tournaments during the 2020 season were recognized along with the winners of the recently completed Directors Cup match play tournament. Winners of the Better Half and Lady Niner Cup were announced along with the results and winners of Ringers, Birdies, Chip-ins, and Personal Milestones. Distribution of winnings to Directors Cup winners, the draw winners of the Directors Cup, Better Half, Lady Niner Cup, Ringers, Birdies, Chip-ins was made during the luncheon. To those winners who were not personally in attendance or for any reason have not received your prize, please contact the Golf Shop to pick up your envelopes.

Chair Farewell Remarks

The 2020 golf season did not turn out as I anticipated. I doubt I was alone in finding it unsettling, distressing, confusing, and very challenging. But the Country Club Board and all of the employees worked together so hard to overcome obstacles, and to make choices and decisions which were for the benefit and protection of all Club members, including all of us in the LGA. This Club and its creativity with food service was a bright light in the darkness of the early days of this pandemic and continues today. When the golf course could be opened the Club crafted the rules and procedures which would comply with public health guidelines to keep us safe and still allow for the maximum enjoyment of this beautiful golf course. How marvelous it has been to have this Club to come to as a safe haven and feel the security of accessing your clubs and a sanitized golf cart and get out into the fresh air and spectacular setting which is our Club.

Thanks to all of you for your comments, suggestions and willingness to “go with the flow” of early tee times, later starting times, little if any socializing with our fellow LGA members, and the absence of the delicious Tuesday luncheon buffets that we miss so very much. The box lunch option softened that blow but all of us can’t wait to get back to “normal”, whatever that is. The preparation of this weekly newsletter has been very enjoyable for me. I have had such positive responses from many of you. It’s always nice to see your picture out there and your name in print as a player and sometimes as a winner. This newsletter is a showcase for the accomplishments of each of you. Thank you for this once in a lifetime experience. I very much appreciate all of the confidence, help, and support from you.
