Dennis Minano

Dennis R. Minano currently acts as an advisor on energy,environmental and transportation issues. He served as GeneralMotors (GM) vice president of environment and energy and chiefenvironmental officer until his retirement in 2002, and in thatposition, was responsible for overseeing environmental and energypolicies worldwide. During his 30-year career at GM, Minanoremained at the forefront of public policy debates affecting thetransportation and energy industries. Denny joined the company in1971 as an attorney involved in marketing, product liability, energyand environmental law.

He was appointed practice area manager of the environmental and energy legal group in1990, representing the company's interests on major national policy issues. During 1995-1996, he also served as vice president for GM Communications, helping to integratecommunication with business strategy. Minano was instrumental in establishing GM'senvironmental vision. Under his leadership, GM published its first Environmental Reportin 1994, demonstrating a corporate commitment to public accountability. Since that time,the annual reports have addressed GM's accomplishments and challenges at its facilitiesand with its products in both environment and energy. During his tenure, GM's progressin advanced vehicle technology, creation of unique partnerships with organizations likeThe Nature Conservancy, and improved environmental and energy performance for GMfacilities received wide recognition.

Minano currently chairs an energy and transportation group charged with formulatingrecommendations for future U.S. policy. He has published and spoken in public policyforums on issues involving technology, transportation, environment, and energy. Minanois also a member of the Keystone Center Board of Trustees and is Co-Chair of the Board'sScience and Public Policy Committee. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of TheNature Conservancy of Michigan, the Board of Trustees of the University of DetroitMercy, and the Board of Trustees of the Sonoran Institute. He holds a law degree fromthe University of Detroit Law School where he was adjunct professor of environmentallaw, and is a graduate of the University of Dayton (Ohio).

Al Mok

Al Mok has over 30 years of operations, engineering, sustainabledevelopment, and EHS management experience in the oil and gasindustry. He started his career in the oil and gas industry as a fieldengineer with Schlumberger Overseas in 1980.

Al joined Suncor Energy Inc. in 1982. In 1997, as CorporateManager of Sustainable Development, Al led a number of corporateEHS Management Systems audits, supported the implementation ofthe “Journey To Zero” initiative to improve safety performance,incorporated Life Cycle Value Assessment into Suncor’s decisionmaking process for large projects, and played a critical role inchampioning regulatory approval & EIA processes for Suncor’swind power development projects throughout Canada.

In 2003, as Project Lead of an enterprise resource planning project, Al successfully led ateam of subject matter experts to standardize common Environmental, Health, and Safety(EHS) practices across 4 major business units.

Al became Corporate Director, EH&S in 2006. In this role, Al was accountable for providingleadership in EHS governance and supporting all operating businesses. In 2008, Al wasnominated to co-chair a multi-stakeholder group that consisted of Government, NGO, andIndustry sectors to develop a Clean Air Strategy for the Province of Alberta.

With the merger between Suncor and PetroCanada in 2009, Al was appointed Director ofEHS Integration to provide functional leadership during the transition. Al received hisundergraduate degrees in Water Resources Engineering (University of Guelph, Guelph,Ontario) and Business Administration (BC Institute of Technology, Vancouver, BC). Al andhis wife Debbie, married for 27 years, have 2 grown children.

Since joining the AHC Group as Senior Associate in mid-2011, Al has completed anextensive study on integrating EHS and Social Responsibility risks with overallenterprise risk management processes for an US-based oil and gas client.

Robert C. (Bob) Lockemer has worked in the Health, Safetyand Environmental (HSE) field for over 30 years. As aconsultant to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency inthe mid-1970’s, he helped develop the Wastewater EffluentGuidelines for the Ore Mining and Dressing Industry, one ofthe first Effluent Guidelines issued. Since then, Bob has spenthalf of his career in corporate functions providing strategicadvice and technical support to senior management and sitemanagement in the chemical industry. The other half of hiscareer has been spent in chemical manufacturing sites puttingwhat he preaches into practice and achieving positive HSEresults. His current responsibilities for Bayer CropScienceinclude real estate and historic environmental issues aroundthe world.

Doug Hock is director of public and community relations for Encana Oil & Gas(USA) Inc. He has worked in public relations for 25 years, the majority of it in theoil/gas and mining sectors. He is a past president of the Colorado Chapter of thePublic Relations Society of America (PRSA).

Mr. Hock serves on the board of Florence Crittenton Services, a Denver-basednon-profit that helps teen parents raise healthy families and on the board of theAmerican Lung Association-Colorado. Mr. Hock holds a bachelor’s degree innews/editorial journalism from Drake University.

Colin Deihl focuses on complex environmental, natural resources and real estatelitigation. He has tried numerous cases in both federal and state courts, as well as inbinding arbitrations. He regularly counsels clients regarding environmental andnatural resources matters including permitting, rulemaking and compliance issues,and has experience with most of the federal environmental laws and their statecounterparts. Steve Willis

Steven P. Willis joined the AHC Group as a SeniorAssociate in 2007. Steve is the former GlobalDirector of Whirlpool Corporation's health, safety,and environmental (HSE) management system,having retired after 33 years of service, includingover 22 years as the senior HSE professional for thecorporation. All but four of his years with Whirlpoolwere directly or indirectly involved with HSEresponsibilities at the research, manufacturing, andcorporate leadership levels.

Prior to Whirlpool, Steve had seven years of experience working for NASA on researchprojects involving regenerative life support systems for long- duration manned spaceflights at NASA's Langley Research Center in Virginia.

Steve graduated with honors from Virginia Tech University with a B.S. in EngineeringMechanics, and from Vanderbilt University with an M.S. in Environmental and WaterResources Engineering and the recipient of a Whirlpool Fellowship in EnvironmentalStudies. Steve is a registered professional engineer in the State of Ohio.Steve has been married to Pam, a retired elementary school teacher, for over 37 years.They have two grown children, daughter Tori and son Greg. Steve and Pam relocatedfrom Michigan to Arizona in 2007, where they both find retirement exceeding their highexpectations, particularly when Steve can continue to build on his career while workingwith an outstanding group of clients.

The purpose of this workshop is tocontinuously improve and strengthen the riskmanagement skills of participants and to evolve a

more effective business model for managing corporate environmental liabilities.Workshops not only focus on best practices and new risk management tools but identifyand assess emerging issues that help to define program strategies.

Over the years, it has transformed to focus on a broader topic range which includesfinancial assurance, disclosure, operational/enterprise risk, and sustainable remediation.Participants recognize that in the future there will likely be a different approach toremediation and to be responsive to an even greater and more complex challenge theymust continuously fine-tune their management skill.

Dwight has presented testimony at state, federal and public hearings, participated innumerous state, federal, and international industry forums as a presenter and panelist onissues related to Superfund, RCRA, Cost/Benefit, Tort Reform, Brownfields, EminentDomain, NRD, Risk Assessment, Risk Communication, Contaminated Sediments andSarbanes Oxley. Dwight has also conducted numerous industry benchmark studies,served on Corporate Advisory Boards and published articles in LexisNexis.

Before retiring from DuPont in 2008, Dwight spent 40 years in a variety of plantproduction , technical, R&D, project design/liaison, environmental and businessmanagement roles. Dwight participated in the formation and startup of a 100% DuPontsubsidiary — DuPont Environmental Remediation Services (DERS) and formation ofthe DuPont Corporate Remediation Group. Dwight is a graduate of Auburn Universitywith a BS and MS in Chemical Engineering and a minor in Economics.

David E. Ellis Ph.D. is Technology and Research Director and leads the remediationtechnology and science program for the DuPont Corporate Remediation Group inWilmington, Delaware. He has 35 years experience in the science of subsurfacecleanups. Dave is the founder and former President of The Sustainable RemediationForum (SURF) and chaired the UK’s SABRE consortium on bioremediation of DNAPLand several RTDF R&D consortia. He served on three National Research Councilcommittees: natural attenuation, source removal, and the future of remediation.

Dave was very active in ITRC,serving both on the Board ofAdvisors and a lead instructor inseveral ITRC classes. Dave receivedhis Ph.D. at Yale University in 1978,was a member of the researchfaculty at The University ofChicago. Dave has published manypapers on environmentaltechnology, geochemistry, and hightemperature thermodynamics.
