For shoppers there is a mixture of street stalls and retail outlets selling everything from high fashion to casual attire, as well as many Korean cosmetics stores offering high-quality products at competitive prices. Myeong-dong is very popular with international visitors and fills with Japanese and Chinese tourists during the holiday period known as “Golden Week” which takes place in spring and is called golden week due to the week-long holiday period that takes place in Japan and China. Part of Myeong-dong’s popularity stems from relatively affordable prices here, especially compared to the other shopping meccas of Apgujeong-dong and Cheongdam-dong. Namsan Seoul Tower Namsan Seoul Tower was the first tower-type tourism spot in Korea. The top of the tower is at almost 480m above sea level, including Namsan Mountain (243m) and the tower’s own height (236.7m), making it one of the tallest towers in the Orient. It is comprised of Seoul Tower Plaza, recently opened to public access after 40 years, and N Seoul Tower, operated by CJ Foodville since 2005. The tower was first established as a broadcast tower to send out TV and radio signals in 1969. As of now, it has become one of the representative landmarks and multi-cultural venues in Seoul. Itaewon World Food Street, Hamilton Hotel, Art Museum, nightclubs, Antique Furniture Street, etc. Itaewon was the first special tourist zone in Seoul, designated in 1997. It is a multicultural place where over 20,000 foreigners live and is widely recognized by international visitors. Travelers can taste authentic cuisine and experience culture from around the globe on the World Food Street where there are 40 restaurants operated by foreigners. Since the late 1990s, an increase in the number of tourists from Southeast Asia and the Middle East has transformed the streets from being US Army-oriented into culturally diverse. Varied performance and events are held in the area. In particulary, Itaewon Global Village Festival, held every October, is a famous festival. Tourists can pay in US dollars, Japanese Yen or another currency freely. In addition, visitors can use various languages like English, Japanese, and Chinese with the sellers. Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) The Korean peninsula is home to a single nation of people with the same language and ethnicity, divided into two countries. The Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) is a buffer zone, which was established on July 27, 1953 when the Armistice Agreement was signed during the Korean War. The DMZ vividly captures the scars and wounds of the Korean War as well as the wishes and hopes for the future. South and North Koreas drew a truce line across the Korean Peninsula, from the mouth of the Imjingang River in the east, to the town of Goseong in the west. On either side of the truce line is a 2km-wide stretch of land where military activity is forbidden. The zone has been protected from human disturbance for about 6 decades and has unintentionally become a haven for wildlife. Duty Free Shops Korea is home to a plethora of fashion and beauty trends, and this characteristic is well reflected in the nation’s shopping culture. In particular, duty free shops are a great way to purchase name-brand luxury items at a great price! You can easily cross items off your shopping list at the duty free shops found at major international airports as well as international ferry terminals. The duty free shop at Incheon International Airport is the most representative example, with an international standard in size and services provided. Including Seoul, you can also find duty free shops all around the major cities and provinces. Moreover, the purchased goods from these places can be sent directly to your departure airport or seaport, removing the hassle of carrying and packing extra items. The shopper’s departure ticket and passport are required during both purchase and collection of duty free goods. www.imcc1983.org Chinese Production Engineering Institute, CMES (CPEI)

The 7th International Conference of Manufacturing Technology Engineers 2018

Introduction of ICMTE On behalf of the organizing committee, it is our great honor and pleasure to announce that the 2018 International Conference of Manufacturing Technology Engineers (ICMTE 2018) will be held in Seoul, Korea, following the previous successful symposiums in Seoul (2012), Shanghai (2013), Jeju (2014) and Hangzhou (2015), Seoul (2016), Shenzhen (2017).

The conference is aimed at facilitating interactions among engineers in the fields of mechanical design & CAE, manufacturing, robotics & automation, with special focus on some cutting-edge fields, such as nanotechnology, sustainable manufacturing and smart manufacturing, and etc.

The manufacturing technology is playing a key role not only in current industry and economy, but also in creating high quality jobs for society. Many countries also have stressed the importance of manufacturing fields as their governmental policy. In addition, the globalization of production and market demands mutual cooperation among countries under severe competition. Hence we hope this conference will provide a good opportunity to exchange professional experiences and to boost cooperative fellowships.

Seoul is one of the world’s most fascinating cities, which has been the center of politics, culture, commerce and finance in Korea. Seoul is also a historical city, the ancient capital of the Joseon Dynasty, with many tourist attractions, including old palaces and gardens. In Seoul, the past and the present meet together and coexist in harmony. You will be able to enjoy both the flavor of the traditional Korean culture and the excitement of a sprawling metropolitan city. In addition, October is the best season to visit Korea and we hope you will have a great time in Seoul.

We are looking forward to meeting you in October 2018.

Thank you!
