The AuctionThe 9th Annual Owl Club

auction took place on January 28, 2012 from 2:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The event was held at the Liacouras Center and the Fox-Gittis Center located in the arena.

The goal of the event is to raise money for Temple’s 565 student-athletes over 24 varsity sports.

Time-Log8:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.

Arrival to the Liacouras Center for breakfast/early meeting and set-up of the Fox Gittis Center for the pre-game hospitality period and live auction.

10:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Set-up of the main corridor of the Liacouras Center for the silent auction. Placement of items on display tables and boards.

2:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Brief run-through of the 149 items and bid sheets for the live auction.

2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. The Liacouras Center doors open and the the auction begins. I am stationed outside the hospitality room to check in Owl Club donors.

4:00 p.m. – 5:15 p.m. The basketball game begins and I move from the pre-hospitality suite to the main corridor to assist the interns and volunteers with the silent auction.

5:15 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. We turn over the bid sheets and proceed to move auction items to the main lobby of the Liacouras Center for pickup.

6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.

The end of the game has occurred and immediately after the game, the live auction in the Fox Gittis Hall has begun. During this time, auction winners proceed to secure their items.

8:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

The live auction has ended and we are in the process of cleaning and restoring the Fox Gittis room to its original state.

Lead Event Shadow

Jenna Rankin, who is the athletic development associate for Temple Athletics, served as my lead shadow for the event. She along with Andy Carl were instrumental in planning the event. She also answered any questions regarding the event set-up and auction items.

Special Event Recap

Raised over $78,000 exceeding the 2011 mark of $74,000 dollars.

Operationally, interns and volunteers displayed great cohesiveness.
