The Godfather

At the start of this film, the production company appears in white textcentred on a black background, this soon fades out and the titlefades in again in the white text centred on a black background, withfamous puppeteer hand.

By having the back background it connotes to us that the narrative

of the film will have aspects of death, evil, and bad occurrences, asmany people associate the colour black with those things. But byplacing the white text it creates a connotation that the film may havesome good aspects to it such as love between family orrelationships. Also by having the image of the puppeteer hand itcreates an image that the film can be recognised by like a logo for asports business.

By having the selected font it creates a connotation that all theactions with in the film may be connected in some way and createan event that is the turning point/end of the film.

At the start of this film, the production company appears in white textaligned left in the middle of the screen on a black background, this soonfades out and the title the main actors names fade in and out in the whitetext aligned left on an extreme close up of eyes. The title then appearsaligned right in the lower third of the screen.

By having the back background it connotes to us that the narrative of thefilm will have aspects of death, evil, and bad occurrences, as many peopleassociate the colour black with those things. But by placing the white text itcreates a connotation that the film may have some good aspects to it suchas love between family or relationships. By changing to the extreme closeup of the eyes it connotes that the eyes will be important as some peoplefeel they are the door to the soul and by having them in black and white so

the pupil is all black it connotes that this man will be evil/bad.

At the start of this film, the directors name appears in orange text on a black background, thissoon fades out to moving images of the main characters with the actors names appearing centresat the bottom of the screen when they are shown. After the actors have been introduced the titlerises from the bottom of the screen to the top. The moving image then fades to black with namesof cast and crew members being displayed centre of the screen (fading in and out).

By having the back background it connotes to us that the narrative of the film will have aspects ofdeath, evil, and bad occurrences, as many people associate the colour black with those things,.

But by placing the orange text it creates a connotation that the film may have some good aspectsto it such as love between family or relationships as orange is bright and people associate thiswith happiness this also challenges the white text on a black back ground gangster convention. Byshowing the audience the actors it gives them a feeling that they are being introduced and goingto get to know them further within the film. By then having the title rise to the top it creates aconnotation that the film will follow the gangster narrative convention of hopeful gangsters rising tothe top to control the underworld empire then by changing to credits in orange text it feel that thatchapter is closing and another will open by them watching the film
