• Theintroductionofprimers.Settingoutthecommongroundonwhichexpertsintheirfieldgenerallyagreenarrowingtheareaofdisputedopinion.Thefirstprimershavealreadybeenwrittenandtheyarelikelytobecreatedforotherareasofexpertise.Willtheintroductionofprimersreducetheneedforexpertevidence,howtheywillworkinpractice,whatareasofexpertisecouldbeaffectedinthefuture,andhowtochallengethem?

Sir Adrian Fulford was appointed Senior PresidingJudge on 1st January 2016 and as such has primaryjudicialresponsibilityforHMCourtsandTribunalsServiceand its reformprogramme.As the Judge inChargeofTechnology he has a prominent role in the ongoingCourtsReformProgrammewhichincludesbringingtheITsystemsusedincourtintothe21stCentury.
His Honour JudgeWall QC is a Circuit Judge andchairs the Leverhulme Research Centre for ForensicScience Advisory Board. He also sits on the ForensicScience Regulator’s advisory committee and on thesteering committee set up to commission scientificprimersforuseincourts.
LordCharlesFalconerQCisaPartneratGibsonDunnwhere his practice focuses on complex commerciallitigation,internationalarbitrationandinvestigations.LordFalconer is the former UK Lord Chancellor and firstSecretaryofStateforJustice.
AlisonSomekcontinuestoactasanexpertwitnessaswell as running Somek&Associates - aMedico-Legalconsultancywithnearly200expertwitnesses,includingOccupational Therapists, Nurses, Midwives &Physiotherapists. She is currently on the membershipcommittee of EWI and until recently was Chair of theMedico-LegalForumoftheCOT.
EdCrosse is apartneratSimmons&SimmonsLLPandhasbeenpractisingasabankingandcommercialdisputes lawyer since 1997. He is President of theLondonSolicitors LitigationAssociationand, in thatrole, has been involved in a number of the recentcourt-ledreformsandconsultations.
CliveStaffordSmithisarenownedhumanrightslawyerandthefounderofReprieve.Clivehasrepresentedover400prisonersfacingthedeathpenaltyandhashelpedsecurethereleaseof79prisonersfromGuantánamoBay.In 2000 he was awarded the OBE for humanitarianservicesinthelegalfield.
NickDealwascalled to theBar in1989andhadamixedcommonlawpractice.HehastrainedforBondSolonsince2003andisnowleadtrainerwithintheexpertwitnessgroup,developingprogrammesandqualificationsaswellascontinuingtodelivertrainingcourses.
AliMalsherisaclinicalnegligencesolicitoratAnthonyGold with a background in nursing. She specialises insurgical,cardiacandemergencymedicinecasesbuthasafullrangeofmedicalissuesinhercaseload.AliisalsoanAssociationofPersonalInjuryLawyersseniorlitigatorandaLawSocietyClinicalNegligencepanelmember.
CatherineLeechisapartneratIrwinMitchell,specialisingin claims for people who have had serious injuries,especially brain and spinal cord injuries. Catherine hasalsowonseveralawardsforherwork,includingSolicitorof theYear in Private Practice in the 2013 Law SocietyExcellenceAwards.
AndrewAndrewsMBEisalawyerbyprofessionandarespected legal advisor. Andrew is an established andrecognised medico-legal trainer. His additionalresponsibilitiesincludeMedico-LegalAdvisorforStJohnAmbulance, Chairman of One in Four, Trustee & LegalAdvisorFlorenceNightingaleFoundation.

Anthony Edwards is a solicitor at TV Edwards,specialisingincorruption,fraudandmajorcrime.Healso acts as an expert witness inmatters involvingpolicestationadviceandtheprofessionalconductofsolicitors.Heisoneofthecountry’sleadingcriminallawtrainersandaspecialistoncriminallawcosts.
IsabelWest isasolicitorqualified inbothEnglandandScotland. After years as a civil litigation partner whoroutinely relied on the evidence of experts she joinedBond Solon in 2005 and was Head of ExpertWitnessGroupforseveralyears.
Master Gordon-Saker became the Senior CostsJudge(ChiefTaxingMaster)inOctober2014.Hehasthe day-to-daymanagement and leadership of thecosts judges, deputy costs judges and the SeniorCourtsCostsOffice.Themostcomplexand/orhigh-valuecasesareassignedtotheSeniorCostsJudge.
