For more than 200 years, the Argylls served as one of Scotland’s elite regiments and established a fearsome fighting spirit. This family regiment has fought with distinction throughout the world. From the initial raising of the Argyllshire and Sutherland Highlander regiments in the late 1790s, to their amalgamation in 1881 when they became Princess Louise’s Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, the regiment went on to create its own proud history on the battlefields of the Great War, World War Two and Korea. Sixteen Victoria Crosses have been awarded to members of the regiment. Pyrenees, Balaclava, Lucknow, South Africa, Mons, Ypres, Cambrai, North Africa, Italy, Malaya, NW Europe, Korea are but a few of the battle honours emblazoned on their Colours. They reflect for all time the regiment’s bravery, tradition and honour. In the peace which followed the tragedies of war, the disciplined and measured response of the Argylls to the missions they have been employed has remained true. Peacekeeping duties took them to many diverse places such as Palestine, Cyprus, Aden and Bosnia. They were awarded the Wilkinson Sword for Peace for their profound and lasting efforts to establish good relationships with the local communities in Northern Ireland. The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Museum Trust is now extremely pleased to partner with a leading watch designer, Time is Ticking Inc., a mature company with a long and honourable history of creating watches which reflect historic military milestones including the recent 100th anniversary timepieces for the Royal Canadian Navy and Royal Canadian Air Force and the 60th anniversary Victory Europe Commemorative watch. To show your continued pride in the regiment, its members and history, we are now honoured to be able to offer a Limited Edition Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Regimental watch.

Sixteen Victoria Crosses have been awarded to membersof the regiment.
