The Art of Deck Checking (By Alfonso Bueno and Dani Solé)

The standard procedure to make a Deck Check is the following:  

1. Choose a random table  cheaters can be in all the tournament, not just in the first tables. 

2. One judge goes for the decks. The other looks for the lists. Be careful with: 

a. Not being noticed. b. Way of shuffling c. Collect after presenting. d. Note the time passed.  

Problem 1: A player cuts his opponent’s deck without presenting his.   

3. Check randomization  avoid changing order.  Problem 2: Land/2 spells/Land/2 spells/…   Problem 3: Perfect initial hand. 

4. Compare the deck agains the decklist  Follow the  list and check  if the cards really appear. 

Problem 4  Not Desideboarded.   Problem 5  List 59 cards, playing 60 cards.  

5. Check the sleeves  Sepparate those marked.  Problem 6  Marked Pattern/Marked No pattern. 

6. Check the sideboard   Problem 7  More cards in the deck box (without sleeves). 

7. Write down in the deck list the DC, give the decks back and give extra time.
