With few exceptions, theFoundation funds programs in countries where it hasoffices and local professional staff to monitorimplementation (South and Central Asia, Sub-SaharanAfrica and the Middle East).     African Women's Development Fund (AWDF)Small Grants Program (SGP)Deadline: Rolling The Small Grants Program (SGP) supports small,community/rural-based grassroots women's groups thatwould otherwise not be able to access AWDF's mainfunding program. The SGP also supports emerging oremergency issues, i.e. community disasters, activities thatrequire a rapid response, etc. It is working in Ghana,Uganda, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Nigeria.

    The AWDF funds work in six thematic areas: WomensHuman Rights, Political Participation, Peace Building,Health, Reproductive Rights, HIV/AIDS, and EconomicEmpowerment.

    Peace Corps and Ashoka: Celebrating Anniversaries and CollaborationsThe Ashoka and Peace Corps communities share many powerful points of intersection throughout our history: Volunteers

    have trained Fellows during their early professional development (Badara Jobe), worked with Fellows organizations(Halidou Ouedraogo) and have become Fellows after building on their Peace Corps experience to launch systemchanging ventures (Greg Van Kirk and Elisabeth Stock).
