Sustainable improvement of the living conditions in Africa

NOT

with foreign aid and charity

BUT

with systematic teaching the African population to

help themselves

C-Fela hacienda has more than 8 years’ experience with the GroWin-system in Costa Rica.

A mixture of oil producing trees has been planted on degraded soil:

Ricinus communis

Moringa oleifera

Jatropha curcas

Acrocomia aculeata

The trees deliver vegetable oil for the production of:

food

After a phase of regeneration the soil can be used again for the cultivation of food plants

It is crucial to develop a system that will achieve the following criteria:

• Protection against erosion

• Stabilization of the groundwater levels

• Independence of irrigation

• No cost-intensive and polluting use of fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides

• Drought resistance

• High storage of CO2 through the establishment of long term plantations with sustainable crops

• Job creation

• Integration of small farmers into the project

• Concentrating initially on the supply of local and regional markets with fuel, energy and food

• Development of a processing industry

• Development of an education system modelled after the dual system

• Development of a health system

THE ASJEBA KONCEPT:

Essential components:

• Reduction of degenerated/unused agricultural land by the establishment of plantations

• Rehabilitation of soil productivity by planting various specimens that mutually fertilize each other

• Reduction of dependence on fossil fuels through production of vegetable oil

• After approx. 4 years the soil will be fertile again in such a way that labour intensive farming of food crops can

start

• Creation of 1 job per 5 hectares

• Introduction of a dual educational system: trainees do work 4 days a week on the field and go to school 2 days.

• After certification of the professional training, the graduate can apply for 5 hectares of land that he/she can farm

independently with the support of the nucleus farm (out-grower-concept), or the graduate returns home with

high quality plant material and know-how to assist his family to upgrade the parents’ farm
